The Executive Director, Alliance Management is responsible for managing and optimizing the value of BeOne’s alliances across all stages of the product life cycle, including research, development, and commercialization. Alliances may include joint ventures and in-licensing or out-licensing arrangements following execution of a partnership agreement. The Executive Director will ensure that both parties adhere to the terms of each partnership agreement, position BeOne as a “partner of choice,” and uphold BeOne’s best interests. This role is also responsible for hiring and developing alliance managers as business needs require.
Essential Functions of the Job:

Cross-company activities:

- Own and be accountable for global strategic alliances, ensuring achievement of key alliance goals while maintaining productive partner relationships.

- Oversee execution of partnership agreements, including facilitation of governance committees and working group meetings; identify key issues, set agendas, schedule meetings, and ensure BeOne teams are prepared for deliverables and pre-meeting preparation.

- Work with partner companies to define the direction, scope, key activities, timing, and responsibilities required for successful alliance kickoff and implementation.

- Communicate regularly with partner alliance management counterparts and other key partner stakeholders, including ad hoc communications or events requiring cross-functional coordination.

- Proactively identify and address key alliance risks, including legal, business, and relationship-management risks.

- Conduct regular alliance audits and health checks.

- Participate in external events that promote BeOne as a “partner of choice,” including ASAP conferences, Joint Alliance Value Initiative (JAVI), and other partnering events.

Intra-company coordination and collaboration:

- Liaise with Business Development, Legal, Finance, Clinical Development, Commercial, and other functions to ensure appropriate management of key contract terms, including roles and responsibilities, milestones, financial transactions, and progress reports.

- Provide timely information and updates to management, as needed.

- Monitor implementation of, and adherence to, agreed-upon research, development, and commercialization plans; take appropriate action to ensure execution.

- Build and maintain relationships with BeOne senior leaders; proactively engage stakeholders to communicate and address key alliance value inflection points.

- Collaborate with key stakeholders to formulate team recommendations and drive alignment.

- Lead and/or participate in contract renegotiations, as appropriate.

- Participate in new partner contract negotiations, as appropriate, and provide input on partnership execution terms, including governance structures and processes.

- Build expertise about partner companies, including organization, leadership, strategy, financials, and priorities; serve as BeOne’s internal expert on partner companies.

- Participate in alliance management group meetings to review alliance progress, discuss value inflection points, address issues, and share best practices.

Other Qualifications:

- Minimum of 14+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry, life sciences, or a related industry, preferably in a commercial, business development, project leadership, or project management role.

- Minimum of a BA/BS is required, while an advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MS, MBA, MD) is desirable in a discipline related to drug development or business.

- Minimum of 10 years of experience in alliance management.
