Expert Systems Engineer

Location: Remote – USA
Travel: Up to 20%
Key Responsibilities

- Manage, monitor, maintain, and support infrastructure and application environments.

- Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware, software, operating systems, databases, and applications.

- Partner with Operations on patches, updates, antivirus, maintenance, and system health.

- Monitor system performance, conduct health checks, and support capacity planning and optimization.

- Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent reoccurrence.

- Ensure technical deliverables meet quality standards and required peer/stakeholder reviews are completed.

- Own assigned projects and tasks, communicate progress and risks, and proactively escalate scope or schedule concerns.

- Serve as a primary technical resource in project meetings and drive technical initiatives to successful completion.

- Work directly with clients and internal stakeholders, including presenting technical information to groups and executive-level audiences.

- Standardize and automate processes and monitoring using scripting and automation technologies.

- Follow change management procedures and maintain technical and system design documentation.

- Document issues and resolutions and contribute to continuous process and technical improvement.

Required Qualifications

- 5–7 years of relevant experience, including 2–3 years at a senior level or equivalent.

- Strong experience with SQL Server, Power BI, and Databricks .

- Experience supporting production infrastructure and troubleshooting complex technical issues.

- Strong understanding of systems, databases, applications, monitoring, and performance management.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.

- Comfortable working directly with clients and cross-functional teams.

- Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.

- Experience with scripting, automation, technical documentation, and change management.

Preferred Qualifications

- Healthcare technology or hospital IT experience.

- Development experience with .NET and REST APIs .

- Experience with AppDynamics, LogicMonitor , or other monitoring/observability platforms.

- Experience with OpenTelemetry .

- Cloud infrastructure or modern data platform experience.

- Relevant certifications such as GIAC, ITIL, or MCSE .

Working Arrangements

- Standard work week or as defined by assignment requirements.

- Primarily remote or office-based.

- May require after-hours, on-call, and holiday support, particularly during month-, quarter-, and year-end periods. PTO may be limited during peak business periods.

- Up to 20% travel may be required.

Physical Requirements

Regularly: Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, vision, and keyboard use.

Occasionally: Climbing/balancing and stooping/kneeling/crawling.
