Veterinary Academy Instructor Position Summary The Veterinary Academy Instructor provides academic support across programs and courses within the Penn Foster Veterinary Academy. This role collaborates closely with fellow instructors, externship teams, and academic leadership to deliver a high-quality student experience in a distance education environment. Support is provided through multiple channels, including email and ticket systems, scheduled one-on-one appointments, live webinars, and detailed feedback on subjective assessments and externship skill submissions, when necessary. The Instructor maintains ownership of assigned program courses, serves as a subject matter expert, and leads course-related discussions. This role also participates in course quality assurance, curriculum review, course revisions, course design, and instructional improvement initiatives. The Instructor contributes strategic and instructional perspectives related to policy, teaching and learning practices, student progression, and opportunities for program and brand growth. Essential Job Functions

- Provide academic support to students through phone calls, LibCal appointments, email, and case/ticket systems.

- Develop detailed, course-specific webinars based on course content.

- Continuously assess and update webinars during preparation periods to ensure clarity, accuracy, and relevance.

- Facilitate live weekly webinars and respond to learner questions through webinar chat.

- Assume responsibility for assigned courses within the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician program, as designated by the Academic Team Lead or Veterinary Academy Director.

- Maintain responsibility for curriculum updates, course revisions, course reviews, and course quality assurance initiatives.

- Participate in course revisions in collaboration with Product Design teams and under the direction of the Program Director.

- Evaluate written examinations and provide feedback on subjective examinations and projects, as needed.

- Evaluate Penn Foster student skill submissions as part of externship requirements when there is a company-wide need.

- Serve as backup faculty for evaluating Ashworth student externship skill submissions, as needed.

- Support Ashworth Veterinary Academy students by responding to emails and tickets and offering LibCal phone appointments.

- Assume responsibility for assigned courses within the Ashworth Veterinary Technician program.

- Evaluate written examinations and provide feedback within assigned Ashworth courses.

- Submit instructional and program improvement recommendations to the Academic Team Lead based on course feedback, student outcomes, and professional expertise.

- Support initiatives designed to reduce attrition and improve student progression.

- Collaborate with the Team Lead, Program Director, and Instructional Designer to develop new instructional delivery methods.

- Assist with and monitor social media activity, when warranted.

- Attend and actively participate in scheduled department meetings.

- Support the onboarding and training of new instructors as part of a collaborative team effort.

- Complete all required professional development and training in accordance with company policies.

- Maintain active status for all required professional licenses and credentials.

- Participate in accreditation-related activities, as required.

- Participate in contingency and backup coverage activities in accordance with program and accreditation requirements, including:

◦ Instructional backup ◦ Externship skill evaluation backup for the Penn Foster and Ashworth Veterinary Academies ◦ Site approval support for the Ashworth Veterinary Academy
- Perform additional instructional and student support duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.

- Credentialed Veterinary Technician who graduated from an AVMA-accredited program.
