At Keywords Studios, we’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and self-driven UI/UX Designer to join the team on an exciting project.

In this role, you’ll help shape the visual quality and usability of the game’s interface, creating clear, polished, and engaging UI assets that support the overall player experience. You will work closely with artists, designers, engineers, and technical artists to develop UI screens, HUD elements, icons, menus, and interactive visual assets that are consistent with the project’s art direction and technical requirements.

Only those with relevant working rights for Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam will be considered. Sponsorship and relocation is not being offered as part of this package.
A User Interface Artist at Keywords Studios:

- Concept and design UI and HUD layouts and assets, including menus, icons, buttons, frames, panels, and other interface elements, from wireframes and mock-ups through to final in-engine implementation.

- Develop clear and visually appealing UI solutions that bring simplicity and user-friendliness to complex design challenges.

- Ensure the user interface experience is intuitive, readable, and consistent, while remaining faithful to the overall art direction.

- Maintain a consistent visual aesthetic across all UI assets and screens.

- Work with the Lead Artist, Designers, Engineers, and Technical Artists to produce well-optimised assets in line with technical requirements and production conventions.

- Create wireframes, mock-ups, user flows, and visual prototypes in collaboration with Designers to communicate interaction and layout ideas.

- Support the creation and layout of animated UI elements and, where required, 3D UI elements.

- Review existing UI layouts, menus, and assets, and propose visual and usability improvements.

- Clearly articulate the reasoning behind design choices and respond constructively to feedback.

- Engage in the wider design and art process, providing feedback and suggestions to help deliver the best possible user interface experience.

- Participate in task planning, estimation, and scheduling with the Lead Artist and Production Team.

Requirements

- Proven experience as a User Interface Artist or similar role in game development.

- Experience working on at least one shipped or live game title, ideally on mobile.

- Strong portfolio demonstrating UI art skills, including menus, HUDs, icons, buttons, visual hierarchy, layout, and polished final UI assets.

- Good understanding of mobile UI constraints, including readability, screen resolution, aspect ratios, touch interaction, and asset optimisation.

- Strong visual design skills, including composition, colour, typography, shape language, iconography, and attention to detail.

- Ability to create UI assets from wireframes or design briefs through to final production-ready artwork.

- Practical understanding of how UI assets are implemented in a game engine or real-time development environment.

- Comfortable working collaboratively with designers, engineers, technical artists, and other artists.

- Ability to iterate quickly based on feedback while maintaining visual quality and consistency.

- Good communication skills and the ability to explain design decisions clearly.

- Well organised, proactive, and able to manage assigned tasks within production timelines.

- Experience with modern game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or proprietary engines is a plus.

- Experience on console titles is a plus.

- Experience with UI animation, motion design, or 3D UI elements is a plus.

- Familiarity with tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, After Effects, Spine, or similar UI/art tools is a plus.
