Sr. Financial Analyst, Programs Terms: Full-time (37.5 hours/week), Permanent Location: Remote in Canada, with hybrid or in-office options for cities with an office Salary: $86,000

MakeWay is looking for a new team member who will be a finance thought partner and operational liaison to Strategic Programs, Capacity Strengthening, and Philanthropic Services. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Sr. Financial Analyst, Programs provides financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting oversight for Foundation programs and supports decision making. Responsibilities include reviewing financial proposals for new funding, supporting budgeting process and providing comprehensive financial support.

What You’ll Do:
Program Budgeting Support

- Support the annual budgeting process for Foundation programs, working with program staff to update funding opportunities and calculate fixed costs including salary recovery and overhead.

- Conduct regular and ongoing reforecasting of program funds on both the revenue and expense side, identifying and managing significant variances.

- Prepare and/or review financial budgets and reporting based on donor/grantor needs.

- Support the budgeting process for the Philanthropic Services team, including financial projections and modelling.

Program Reporting and Financial Analysis

- Handle inquiries from program staff about financial systems or issues, acting as a liaison between program teams and operations.

- Provide financial analysis and insights to program leadership to support planning and decision making.

- Advise program staff on funder reports, proposal budgets, ongoing budget management, forecasting, and decision-making.

- Collaborate with program staff on restricted funding opportunities, including the development of budgets and reports.

- Manage the recovery of operating costs from restricted funding opportunities.

- Support monthly financial review meetings with programs teams, including analysis of financial status, projects, cash flows, changes to revenue pipelines, and variances.

- Assess program budget health and provide recommendations to support effective financial management.

- Review and adjust quarterly fund statements for donor-advised funds.

- 3-5 years of in-depth financial reporting and analysis work experience, preferably in a charity, post-secondary institution, or a publicly funded organization.
