Kunai is seeking a skilled Scala Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in building high-quality products that delight our clients and thrive in production environments. You’ll work across the stack, deepen your technical expertise, and embrace new challenges in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
What You’ll Do:

Design and develop scalable, immutable, and distributed systems with a focus on data streaming and backend services using functional Scala.

Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to build and deliver robust, cloud-based solutions, leveraging AWS infrastructure and modern development practices.

-
Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code, contributing to an engineering culture that values quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Take initiative in solving complex problems and push boundaries with a hands-on, can-do attitude.

What We’re Looking For:

-
5+ years of professional experience in software application development.

-
4+ years of hands-on experience with functional programming (e.g., Scala, Haskell, Clojure, Common Lisp).

-
2+ years of experience working with AWS, including services like DynamoDB.

Bonus Points For:

- Familiarity with the ZIO framework.

-
Prior experience in fintech or banking environments.

-
4+ years working with open-source web technologies.

-
2+ years of experience in performance tuning and monitoring.

-
1+ years working with CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.

-
Hands-on experience optimizing high-scale server systems.

-
AWS Developer or Architect Certification.

Minimum Degree Required:

- Bachelor’s Degree, in lieu of a degree, demonstrating in addition to the minimum years of experience required for the role, three years of specialized training and/or progressively responsible work experience in technology for each missing year of college is required
