Senior EDW Data Architect✦ anywhere
We are looking for a Senior EDW Data Architect for our Fortune 500 client and their banking client. We're looking for a hands-on architect with deep experience designing and delivering enterprise data warehouse solutions on Teradata , ideally within the Teradata Financial Services Data Model and an Inmon-style integrated EDW. The role combines solution architecture, governance, and stakeholder alignment with real hands-on work. Roughly 50% of the role is hands-on: SQL investigation, detailed data analysis, solution validation, and delivery support. This is not a purely strategic architecture position.
This is a long-term remote-first contract position in the EU with occasional on-site participation in client workshops.
Responsibilities
-
Own and support data architecture design for enterprise data warehouse delivery.
-
Analyse source data, data flows, business requirements, and downstream consumption needs.
-
Perform Teradata SQL investigation, detailed technical analysis, and solution validation.
-
Work with business stakeholders, domains, engineers, testers, delivery leads, and peer architects to resolve queries and align on solution direction.
-
Assess design options and recommend pragmatic, scalable, standards-aligned solutions.
-
Produce and maintain architecture artefacts: High Level Designs, Architecture Design Decisions, solution options, design rationale, assumptions, risks, and governance-ready packs.
-
Present designs and recommendations to Architecture Boards and governance forums to secure alignment and approval.
-
Embed data governance, metadata, lineage, controls, reconciliation, auditability, privacy, and regulatory compliance into solution design, including metadata-driven delivery frameworks.
-
Support delivery teams through build, testing, implementation, and issue resolution.
Work Conditions
-
Start Date : October
-
Location : Remote in the EU
-
Long-term contract-based role: PO till December 2026 with extension to 2027
Requirements
-
8+ years' experience in data engineering and architecture, including 5+ years in data architecture (as a Data Architect, or as a senior Data Engineering Lead with demonstrable architecture ownership).
-
Strong hands-on Teradata experience in an on-premises EDW environment: SQL querying, data investigation, issue analysis, and technical validation.
-
Practical experience with the Teradata Financial Services Data Model or an equivalent financial services data model.
-
Strong understanding of EDW design, data marts, data integration patterns, and large-scale data platform delivery.
-
Experience in banking, financial services, or regulatory data environments.
-
Knowledge of regulatory data requirements, including BCBS 239, RDARR, regulatory reporting, data traceability, auditability, and evidence-based control design.
-
Strong data analysis and data modelling skills: source data analysis, relationship mapping, and structure definition.
-
Proven ability to produce governance-ready artefacts (HLDs, ADDs) and to present them to Architecture Boards.
-
Strong stakeholder management, independent ownership, and the ability to challenge constructively and drive decisions to resolution.
Technical Requirements
Mandatory
- Teradata (on-prem EDW), advanced SQL
-
Teradata FSDM or an equivalent financial services data model
- Inmon-style integrated EDW architecture
-
ETL delivery processes and tools, ideally Informatica and/or DataStage
-
Metadata-driven ingestion, transformation, control, and reconciliation frameworks
-
Control-M or comparable batch scheduling and orchestration tools
Nice to have
-
Teradata Global Control Framework (GCFR) or a similar control framework
-
Cloudera or comparable big data platforms, especially integration with EDW or lake environments
-
Modern hybrid warehouse/lake architecture patterns
-
Data observability, operational resilience, and production support experience
-
Broader hands-on data engineering background
Highlights
If you are passionate about enterprise data warehousing, and banking, this role with our client offers an opportunity to shape critical data platforms in a highly regulated environment!
