Job Summary
Sports Reference, LLC is searching for a Scrum Master to assist our Agile teams by facilitating and coordinating Agile processes within the engineering department and cross-functional teams. The engineering team currently has 22 team members consisting of developers, testers, DevOps, and Scrum Masters.
We currently serve 20 million (and growing) monthly users on our free, ad-supported Reference Sites (, , , etc.) and , our SaaS offering that provides powerful search and filtering capabilities for deeper exploration of our vast databases. In 2023, we acquired , the viral baseball trivia game, and have since launched ad-supported grid games for basketball, football, hockey, and soccer.

Background
As a Scrum Master, you will facilitate and coordinate Agile processes within cross-functional teams, ensuring the team can work collaboratively and efficiently to deliver high-quality solutions.
You will work closely with the team to ensure that the work progresses on schedule and to the desired level of quality. Additionally, you will help to foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring that the team is meeting its objectives consistently.
This is an entry level position, and Sports Reference will work with you to train your skills on the specifics of the role. This is a position within our engineering department, but no development skills are required.
We are searching for the role of a scrum master, but do not expect Scrum certification for this role. We provide continuing education benefits and would support you earning your Scrum certification.
Goals and Tasks for Your First Year (In rough order of importance)
Must-Reach Goals and Tasks
- Organize project work in dashboards and project management tooling, and keep the status up to date
- Help coordinate small to medium sized projects within the company
- Report status of projects regularly verbally in small meetings, as well as written asynchronous communication when needed
- Help create small tasks in project management software and assign as appropriate
- Facilitate meetings (standups, iteration boundary, retros) ranging from 3-45+ people
- Keep metrics about the status of work that is currently being worked on
- Continually improve our process by analysis and holding retrospective meetings
