Organisational Context

ChildFund Rugby partners to use rugby as a powerful tool to create positive social impact that supports children and young people to play, learn, and lead.

Partners use Pass It Back, an integrated suite of rugby and life-skills learning products, to support children and young people in vulnerable situations to develop critical social and emotional skills. These capabilities better equip participants to navigate challenges, contribute positively to their communities, and take on leadership roles in their lives.

ChildFund Rugby is World Rugby’s global Social Impact Partner, a multi-year partnership that builds on previous partnerships across five consecutive Rugby World Cup events.

ChildFund Rugby is led by ChildFund Australia on behalf of the ChildFund Alliance, a global network of 11 organisations which assists almost 36 million children and their families in 66 countries.

ChildFund Rugby's work includes supporting rugby organisations and partners to strengthen safeguarding in sport, translating safeguarding policies, frameworks and commitments into practical systems and behaviours.
Purpose

The purpose of this Consultancy is to provide Safeguarding in Sport Facilitation services to support ChildFund Rugby's safeguarding partnerships and initiatives.
The Consultant will:

- Facilitate high-quality, participatory safeguarding learning with rugby organisations and stakeholders.

- Support participants to translate safeguarding frameworks and principles into practical organisational action.

- Facilitate sensitive safeguarding discussions in a safe, respectful and appropriate manner.

- Support implementation planning and follow-up with participating organisations.

- Work within ChildFund Rugby's agreed safeguarding methodology, materials and facilitator boundaries.

- Contribute to safeguarding delivery in English and/or French, according to the Consultant's language capabilities and assigned activities.

The Consultant's initial assignment will support delivery of the CAP Safeguarding Initiative with Rugby Africa Member Unions. Additional ChildFund Rugby safeguarding facilitation assignments may be agreed separately according to need, experience and availability.
Scope of Services
1. Facilitator Preparation and Training

The Consultant will complete ChildFund Rugby facilitator preparation before undertaking safeguarding delivery.
This will include:

- Familiarising themselves with the safeguarding frameworks, policies, procedures and resources relevant to each assignment.

- Reviewing assigned facilitation guides, presentations and implementation tools.

- Understanding the objectives and methodology of activities they will facilitate.

- Participating in practice facilitation and scenario discussions where required.

- Understanding facilitator boundaries, including when safeguarding or technical questions must be escalated rather than answered without certainty.

- Coordinating roles and responsibilities with other facilitators before delivery.

For the CAP Safeguarding Initiative, this will include specific preparation on the Rugby Africa Safeguarding Policy, Procedures and Toolkit and the agreed CAP facilitation materials.

Deliverable: Completion of required facilitator preparation and readiness for assigned safeguarding delivery.
2. Safeguarding Learning Facilitation

The Consultant will support or lead assigned safeguarding learning sessions using agreed ChildFund Rugby and partner materials.
Responsibilities may include:

- Facilitating assigned activities, discussions and scenarios.

- Supporting participants to understand and navigate relevant safeguarding frameworks and resources.

- Helping participants apply safeguarding principles to their own organisational and sporting context.
