About the Role:

Job Summary:

The Director of Product for Applied Research Intelligence (ARI) is a senior product leader who brings the voice of the corporate R&D customer into the heart of Wiley 's newest growth business. ARI turns the world's trusted scientific literature and data into decision-grade intelligence for research and development teams in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, life-sciences, and materials sciences. This role owns Wiley 's outward-facing product strategy for that market, reporting to the VP of Product, Applied Research Intelligence. The Director will lead partnerships and the integration ecosystem, shape how ARI is positioned and adopted, and translate deep, first-hand understanding of how R&D scientists work into product direction, customer wins, and partnership investments. It is a builder's role within an established global organization: high autonomy, high external visibility, and significant opportunity to grow into broader product leadership as the business scales.

Job Responsibilities:

Scope and Dimensions

Operate as a senior product leader and a peer to commercial, partnership, and engineering leaders across ARI and the wider AI & Data Analytics organization, leading through influence across functions.

Serve as a key external interface for the product with customers, design partners, and integration and technology partners, and represent ARI at industry and partner forums.

Shape product direction, partnership strategy, and commercial positioning as ARI establishes and grows its presence in the market.

Carry significant scope and autonomy, with the opportunity to build and lead an expanding product function as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

Own ARI's outward-facing product strategy and value proposition. Define a clear, differentiated market point of view for ARI across pharma, biotech, life-sciences, and material sciences R frame how Wiley 's trusted content and intelligence are positioned to customers and partners; demonstrate value through real customer engagement. Result: ARI is recognized as a market-leading intelligence platform with a value proposition that is clear, differentiated, and proven with customers.

Lead the partnership and integration ecosystem. Identify, evaluate, and prioritize integration and technology partners across the R&D tool ecosystem; shape build/buy/partner decisions and own the partnership and integration roadmap in close alignment with engineering, product, and partnerships teams and prospective and current partners. Result: a prioritized partnership and integration roadmap, with ARI embedded in the R&D ecosystem and its capabilities extended through the right partners.

Drive early customer wins and adoption. Work hands-on with sales, services, and customers to secure early customers and pilots, and build a repeatable land-and-expand motion. Result: design-partner customers secured, with a repeatable, scalable commercial motion.

Be the voice of the corporate R&D customer. Bring first-hand understanding of R&D scientists' workflows into the team; translate customer and market insight into product, enrichment, and roadmap priorities; feed competitive intelligence back to product, data science, and engineering. Result: roadmap and enrichment priorities grounded in real R&D workflows, with the team operating with sharp market and competitive awareness.
