Policy Analyst, Violence and Abuse Prevention, & Justice (VAP&J)
Job Purpose
The Policy Analysts apply an Inuit specific gender-based lens to advance policy priorities across all stages of the policy cycle. This includes understanding the issues through evidence and community engagement, developing position statements, and supporting leadership in key conversations. Through this lens, Policy Analysts contribute to the development and review of public policy that advances Pauktuutit’s mandates and initiatives in the support Inuit women, girls and gender-diverse Inuit.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Identifies, analyzes, and provides recommendations on policy and legislative issues and opportunities, including the development of briefing notes, position papers, and other policy-related materials.
- Uses an evidence-based approach, inclusive of Inuit traditional knowledge, to understand and monitor current issues related to violence, abuse prevention, and justice.
- Provides recommendations in consultation internally and externally with Inuit organizations.
- Develops documentation to support submissions to a range of partners including governments and community.
- Identifies and accesses funding sources to advance policy priorities.
- Plans and/or facilitates and documents a variety of engagements including but not limited to workshops, community meetings and working groups.
- Supports regularized reporting to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Represents the organization on external committees and working groups.
