Reporting directly to and under the supervision of the Operations Manager of Mortgage Forward , the Sr Mortgage Underwriter’s primary purpose is to assist Mortgage Forward to live out our Vision, “To be the customers’ trusted financial partner“. Responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external customers, in alignment with our Standards of Greatness.

The Sr Mortgage Underwriter is also responsible for evaluating and determining the eligibility of loan applications which includes analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating risks, and making loan eligibility decisions based on Mortgage Forward ’s credit/risk standards. Meets and exceeds customers’ and team members’ expectations by providing excellent service. Performs all duties with accuracy and in compliance with federal and state laws, rules and regulations, and complies with Mortgage Forward ’s policies and procedures.

As a Sr. Mortgage Underwriter your duties will:

- Underwriter completes a thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with company, investor, and/or FHA/VA/USDA guidelines.

- Underwrites the entire credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans and ultimately ensures an “investment” quality loan product.

- Checks accuracy of all calculations and data integrity. Completes of all required underwriting worksheets.

- Assists with the training of new underwriters. - Recommends the loan disposition to operations manager for loan amounts in excess of authority limitation.

- Maintains company standard SLA for Underwriter productivity.

- Communicates decision on loans to appropriate parties both verbally and in writing.

- Available to processors and TPO Partners for general underwriting guideline questions on specific loan files.

- Responds to post closing reviews and audits in a timely fashion.

- Performs related duties, as directed by Operations Manager.

Requirements needed to be part of this team:

- Minimum of five years of similar or related experience underwriting. FHA,VA and USDA loans - FHA DE and VA LAPP requried

- A two year college degree or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses, or job specific skills acquired though an apprenticeship program.
