The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) is the world's largest coffee trade association, representing more than 10,000 members across 100+ countries — producers, roasters, baristas, buyers, and industry partners united by a commitment to elevating the craft and culture of specialty coffee. Through education, certification, research, and world-class events like the World Barista Championship, SCA sets the global standard for what specialty coffee can be.
The Opportunity

SCA is seeking a Contract Marketing Coordinator, Content & Digital Platforms – Korea to lead local content generation and digital platform growth in one of specialty coffee's most dynamic markets. This role reports to the Managing Director, Korea, while roughly 75–80% of day-to-day work is directed by the Director of Digital Production, based in California. The role owns two connected areas of work: taking content from SCA's global marketing team and localizing or creating it for the Korean market, and building out SCA's YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn presence specifically for Korean audiences.

This is a hands-on, content-focused role. You'll take global campaigns and brand assets and turn them into content that performs for a Korean audience — translated, adapted, or built from scratch — while helping grow SCA's Korean-market platforms from the ground up. A smaller portion of your time will go toward supporting the Managing Director, Korea directly on local events and education program marketing.

Because this role sits between two leaders in two countries, close and proactive communication among the coordinator, the Managing Director, Korea, and the Director of Digital Production is essential — not an occasional check-in, but an ongoing three-way alignment to make sure day-to-day direction and formal oversight stay in sync.
Reporting & Collaboration Structure

- Direct report: Managing Director, Korea. This is the formal reporting relationship — performance management, growth, and local accountability sit here.

- Primary day-to-day direction (~75–80% of work): Director of Digital Production, based in California. Most day-to-day tasking, priorities, and platform strategy come from this relationship, even though it isn't the formal reporting line.

- Remaining ~20–25% of work: Directed by the Managing Director, Korea, covering local events and education program marketing support.

- Expectation: regular three-way check-ins between you, the Managing Director, Korea, and the Director of Digital Production. You are expected to proactively keep both loops informed — this structure only works if communication flows both ways, not just up one line.

What You'll Own

Global-to-Local Content Pipeline (Directed by Digital Production — ~75–80%)

Take content produced by SCA's global marketing team — campaigns, brand assets, messaging — and adapt, translate, or repackage it for the Korean market, ensuring nothing goes out without local relevance and cultural and linguistic accuracy.

Local Content Creation (Directed by Digital Production — ~75–80%)

Where global content doesn't exist or doesn't fit, create original content for the Korean market — from social posts and captions to short-form video, built for a Korean audience from the ground up.

Platform Building — YouTube, Instagram, Facebook & LinkedIn (Directed by Digital Production — ~75–80%)

Partner closely with the Director of Digital Production to build out and grow SCA's presence on these platforms specifically for Korea — posting cadence, platform-specific formats, and community engagement.

Local Events & Education Program Marketing Support (Directed by Managing Director, Korea — ~20–25%; direct reporting line)

Support marketing for local Korean events and SCA's education programs (Diplomas, Q Grader, Coffee Business Education, Master of Specialty Coffee) in-market, working directly with your manager, the Managing Director, Korea.
