Lead Systems Administrator
Job Summary:
equivant is hiring a Lead Systems Administrator to own the internal IT systems that the company runs on: migration to a new Microsoft 365 tenant, identity and access management (Okta and Microsoft Entra ID), and the Windows endpoint fleet. You will own corporate IT operations end to end and supervise the internal service desk. A defining project for this role is leading equivant βs migration onto its own Microsoft 365 tenant as the company separates from a shared parent-company environment.
Job Description:
Responsibilities
- Own internal IT operations for equivant end to end
- Lead the migration of equivant onto a dedicated Microsoft 365 tenant as the company separates from a shared parent-company tenant: plan the cutover, coordinate execution, and own the resulting environment
- Administer the Microsoft 365 tenant, including Exchange Online, SharePoint and OneDrive, Teams, and licensing
- Administer identity and access across Okta and Microsoft Entra ID, including single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, conditional access, and the joiner/mover/leaver lifecycle
- Drive consolidation toward Okta as the target identity provider while operating the existing Entra ID estate through the transition
- Manage the Windows endpoint fleet with Microsoft Intune, including provisioning, configuration, patching, and compliance baselines
- Own service desk operations: ticket triage and resolution in Zendesk, employee onboarding and offboarding, and hardware asset lifecycle
- Partner with technical services and security on the boundary between corporate IT and the hosted product environments
- Coordinate with parent-company operating group staff during the decentralization, and manage vendor and licensing relationships
- Support SOC 2 and CJIS Security Policy compliance from the corporate identity and endpoint side: access reviews, logging, endpoint hardening, and audit evidence
- Coordinate change, incident, and request management through equivant βs ITSM processes (Zendesk and Jira); maintain runbooks and technical documentation
- Participate in after-hours support for incidents as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in information systems, computer science, a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in systems administration or corporate IT, including experience leading or mentoring others or running a service desk function
- Hands-on Microsoft 365 tenant administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams, licensing)
- Hands-on experience planning and executing a Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migration, or a comparable large-scale tenant or directory migration
- Identity and access administration experience with Okta and/or Microsoft Entra ID, including SSO (SAML/OIDC), MFA, and conditional access
- Experience managing Windows endpoints with Microsoft Intune
- Working knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory (Group Policy, DNS, DHCP)
- Competency with scripting for automation, primarily PowerShell
- Familiarity with ITSM platforms such as Jira and Zendesk
- Strong problem-solving ability and excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences, with the judgment to run IT as a service to the business
- The selected candidate must be able to complete vetting required by the FBI CJIS Security Policy and any applicable state or agency requirements, including fingerprint-based background investigation
- Possible travel (approximately 5%)
- May provide after-hours support for incidents
Preferences
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102), Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300), or Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
- Okta Certified Professional or Okta Certified Administrator
- Experience in a multi-entity, parent/subsidiary, or corporate carve-out environment
- Exposure to SOC 2 similar policy environments and the access-control and logging evidence they require
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview
- Experience in regulated, public sector, or justice software domains
