About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Developer – Java & GCP to join a technical delivery team working on enterprise software solutions in an international environment.

The role combines hands-on Java development with technical leadership, cloud-native application design, system integration and production support. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, solution architects and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and maintainable applications running on Google Cloud Platform.

The ideal candidate has strong Java and Spring Boot expertise, solid knowledge of microservices and API integrations, and the ability to guide technical implementation, improve code quality and support the development team in resolving complex technical challenges.
Responsibilities

- Lead technical implementation activities for Java-based applications and cloud-native solutions.

- Design, develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

- Contribute to technical solution design, ensuring alignment with solution architecture, enterprise standards and GCP platform constraints.

- Design and implement microservices, REST APIs and API integrations, applying appropriate architectural and development patterns.

- Collaborate with solution architects and development teams to define implementation approaches, evaluate technical options and address architectural dependencies.

- Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, code reviews and pair-programming sessions to promote high-quality engineering practices.

- Provide technical guidance to developers and support knowledge sharing, coding standards and continuous improvement.

- Diagnose and resolve complex production issues, conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.

- Develop and maintain unit tests, integration tests and other automated testing assets to ensure solution quality and reliability.

- Work with relational and non-relational databases, supporting appropriate data access and persistence strategies.

- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes and cloud or container-based environments, where applicable.

- Support application scalability, performance, resilience, security and maintainability.

- Identify technical risks, dependencies and bottlenecks and contribute to their timely resolution.

- Maintain clear technical documentation, including implementation approaches, integration specifications and relevant technical decisions.

- Use GitHub Copilot or other approved AI-assisted development tools to improve development productivity and code quality, in compliance with applicable security and governance requirements.

- Collaborate with product, architecture and delivery stakeholders to ensure technical solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.

Requirements

- At least 5 years of professional experience in Java development.

- At least 5 years of professional experience with Spring and Spring Boot.

- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles and established development patterns.

- Practical experience designing and implementing microservices and REST APIs.

- Good understanding of API gateways, system integration and distributed application architectures.

- Experience with unit testing, integration testing and automated quality assurance practices.

- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases.

- Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

- Experience with Git and version control workflows.

- Understanding of CI/CD practices and software deployment processes.

- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root-cause analysis and deliver effective solutions.

- Experience participating in code reviews, technical design discussions and development standards definition.

- Good understanding of cloud-native application development and the ability to work within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.

- Familiarity with application security, scalability, resilience and performance optimization.

- Experience working in cross-functional software development teams and collaborating with solution architects and other technical stakeholders.

- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, share knowledge and support the technical development of a team.

- Professional English communication skills.

Nice to Have

- Experience deploying and operating applications on Google Cloud Platform.

- Familiarity with cloud services, containerization and Kubernetes.

- Experience with CI/CD pipeline configuration and deployment automation.

- Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems or asynchronous integrations.

- Practical experience using GitHub Copilot or other approved generative AI tools in software development.

- Experience supporting production applications and participating in incident resolution and service improvement activities.
