IT Operations Engineer

The Basics TheOperationsEngineerisresponsibleforprovisioning,installation/configuration,operation,andmaintenanceof systems hardware and software and related infrastructure with a particular focus on support for R&D people, processes and technology. This role participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation across Tanium ’s R&D and Engineering infrastructure while ensure hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures are operational, secure, and well maintained. MinimumJobQualifications - Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience - 2-3 years relevant work experience - Experience with Meraki network hardware and web interface - Direct experience working with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud - Experience managing common services, such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory - Familiar with monitoring and analytics tools, such as Nagios, Splunk, CheckMK, and/or DataDog - Basic understanding of common network technologies and protocols - Problem solving skills required to analyze complex situations and use various commercial / open-source tools to quickly resolve technical challenges - Authorized to work in the U.S. PreferredJobQualifications - 3-5 years relevant work experience - West Coast-based candidates strongly preferred - Highly-competitive candidates will have knowledge of and hands-on experience with the following technologies: - Tanium - Ansible - Python, Windows & Linux shell scripting - Github Enterprise, Artifactory, Jenkins, Cloudflare - Experience writing scripts in common scripting languages (e.g. Python and Bash and PowerShell) EssentialJobFunctions - Travel on short notice for network troubleshooting as needed - Manage the day to day operations of Tanium ’s infrastructure - Participate in the planning of both short and long-term goals and direction for IT - Develop tools for automation of tasks and integration of other central IT services - Follows the change management process - Document system configuration, installations, and maintenance processes - Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to resolve operational challenges and streamline workflows CoreCompetencies - Demonstrates initiative and motivation - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Team player - Person of high ethics and integrity - Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment Security & Privacy Roles & Responsibilities All roles at Tanium have access to Tanium Confidential Information, therefore, Tanium assigns a universal Position Risk Designation to all roles to hold everyone to the highest possible standard.
