Full-Stack Automation Developer (Node/Next.js, Postgres, APIs and AI)
A Man And His Cave (AMAHC) is an Australian online retailer of pool tables, arcade machines, bar fridges and games-room gear. We run our own CRM, an internal operations app called Pulse and a Snowflake data warehouse. We're hiring developers to automate the routine work across our customer service, logistics, sales and creative teams.
You'll work with our lead developer, who designs the shared systems and reviews changes to them, on automations people use every day. For example:
- An order tracker that follows every order from payment to delivery and tells the customer about a delay before they have to ask
- Real ship dates on pre-order products, worked out from container arrival dates
- AI-drafted replies inside our helpdesk that a person approves before they're sent
- Lead follow-up that makes sure every enquiry is answered within minutes, with call transcripts turned into follow-up email s
- A searchable library of every video clip we've shot, and ads that launch from an approved queue
Up to two roles, one per lane
- Operations: Shopify, our warehouse and carrier systems, the Gorgias helpdesk, Slack
- Growth: our CRM, Aircall, Klaviyo, the Meta Marketing API, Google Drive and Asana
What you need
- 3+ years building and running production web apps in TypeScript or JavaScript (Node, Next.js, React)
- Postgres: schema design, migrations, upserts, indexes
- Integrations that stay up: REST and GraphQL APIs, webhooks, retries, rate limits, pagination, and handling the same event twice or out of order
- At least one feature you built on an LLM API (drafting, classifying or extracting) with a human check or a way to measure it
- Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex or Cursor), and the habit of reviewing and testing what they write
- Clear written English: you'll post short end-of-day notes
- You work on your own, not through an agency or a team
Nice to have
- Shopify Admin API and webhooks; Gorgias, Klaviyo, Aircall, MachShip or the Meta Marketing API
- Vercel and Neon; Snowflake or another data warehouse; Slack apps
- Ecommerce, logistics or customer-service systems
How we work
- One home for every business rule: limits and thresholds live in settings, not scattered through the code
- Every automation runs in shadow mode first, then test, then live
- Small pull requests, a demo every Friday, end-of-day notes in Slack
- A person approves anything a customer sees until it has proved itself
The details
- Full time, 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, core hours 9am to 5pm Sydney time (6am to 2pm Manila during Australian daylight saving)
- AUD $20 an hour, paid as a contractor
- Time tracked with Time Doctor
- A paid trial task (about 10 to 15 hours) in November or December, then a 4-week trial from Monday 5 January 2027 (an earlier start is possible)
