COMPENSATION : $90,000-$100,000 annual salary; Healthcare benefits are available for this role.

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national nonprofit organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients, families, survivors, and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options, connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Volunteer Programs is a strategic leader overseeing the design, implementation, growth, and continuous evolution of programs that connect and activate volunteers, patients, survivors, caregivers, and advocates around the Alliance’s mission. This role develops strategies that deepen engagement, build community, grow the volunteer base, expand mission participation, and create opportunities to support fundraising and organizational growth.
The Director establishes the systems and operational excellence needed to support enterprise-wide volunteer programs, including the Ambassador and Peer Support Programs, while identifying new ways to mobilize the Alliance community through volunteerism, advocacy, awareness, events, peer-to-peer engagement, and fundraising.
Working collaboratively across the organization, the Director fosters meaningful volunteer experiences, builds sustainable program infrastructure, and cultivates engaged champions who expand the Alliance’s reach and advance its strategic priorities and long-term impact.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Strategy and Design
- Provide strategic leadership for the Alliance's Ambassador and Peer Support Programs (including 1:1 Buddy and Group programs), developing the long-term vision, strategy, governance, and scalable infrastructure to guide ongoing growth and operational effectiveness.
- Lead the ongoing development and optimization of volunteer lifecycle processes, including recruitment, screening, onboarding, training, engagement, recognition, and evaluation to deliver consistent, mission-aligned experiences that support sustainable program growth.
- Establish and continuously refine program standards, performance metrics, dashboards, and evaluation frameworks to measure outcomes, demonstrate impact, and guide continuous improvement.
Program Leadership and Organizational Integration
- Lead the implementation, integration, and ongoing management of the Alliance's Ambassador and Peer Support Programs, ensuring operational excellence, meaningful volunteer experiences, and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Guide ongoing program enhancements, expansion strategies, communication plans, and change management efforts while leveraging insights to build future programming.
- Partner cross-functionally to integrate volunteers into organizational initiatives that advance awareness, community education, fundraising, research, and community/health partner engagement initiatives, ensuring volunteer programs support the Alliance’s mission and strategic goals.
Scale Volunteer Programs for Long-Term Impact
- Drive continuous improvement and program expansion through data analysis, participant feedback, and performance measurements that enhance program effectiveness and organizational impact.
