NRG is seeking a Director to join its Growth & Partnerships organization. This role is ideal for an analytically rigorous energy leader who excels at creating structure, aligning cross-functional teams, and establishing repeatable processes that improve how complex opportunities are evaluated and advanced.

The Director will build the internal programs, decision systems, governance, and analytical standards that enable the Growth & Partnerships organization to execute consistently and at a high level. This leader will create the structure, cross-functional alignment, and operating discipline needed to translate complex growth opportunities into clear priorities, rigorous analysis, and executable plans.

Working across internal functions, the Director will create consistency across opportunity portfolios, and ensure leaders receive comparable, decision-ready analysis. The role will partner closely with NRG ’s operating businesses and Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Operations, Technology, Development, and other functions to move priority opportunities through a clear, disciplined path from initial thesis to validation, investment decision, and transition to scale.

Key Responsibilities

Design and manage a common operating system for the Growth & Partnerships organization, including opportunity intake, prioritization, workplans, stage gates, decision rights, governance forums, and transition criteria.

Create and drive decision-making systems that help leadership allocate resources, resolve tradeoffs, and advance the highest-value opportunities with discipline.

Establish a consistent analytical framework for evaluating opportunities across markets, business units, technologies, and time horizons.

Set and uphold a high bar for business cases, financial models, market assessments, customer value propositions, risk analysis, and executive recommendations; ensure assumptions and logic are transparent and defensible.

Integrate opportunity portfolios into a coherent enterprise pipeline, enabling teams to focus on developing opportunities while maintaining consistent priorities, processes, and execution standards across the organization.

Lead cross-functional growth programs that bring together commercial, Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Operations, Technology, Development, Strategy, and business-unit teams around shared outcomes.

Build trusted internal relationships, clarify roles and accountabilities, surface dependencies, and create practical pathways through organizational complexity.

Develop reusable tools, templates, data standards, and reporting mechanisms that improve the quality, consistency, and speed of work across the organization.

Maintain enterprise visibility into portfolio status, resource needs, risks, open questions, milestones, and upcoming decisions.

Translate complex cross-functional work into clear, executive-ready materials and integrated recommendations for senior leadership and Board discussions.
