A Day in the Life

The MCRS Strategic Account Manager (SAM) plays a pivotal role in advancing Medtronic ’s strategic objectives through relationship management, business development, portfolio oversight, and proactive issue/risk mitigation. The SAM is responsible for cultivating trusted partnerships across Operating Units (OUs), regional teams, and Medtronic Clinical & Regulatory Solutions (MCRS) stakeholders. By understanding diverse needs, aligning expectations, and delivering tailored solutions, the SAM supports both clinical evidence generation and achievement of business goals. As the central liaison, the SAM fosters strategic collaboration, anticipates future opportunities and challenges, and drives innovation. Through effective communication and solution facilitation, the SAM lays the groundwork for long-term success and compliance, empowering stakeholders to focus on delivering clinical outcomes that prioritize patient care.

Core Activities of the SAM:

Stakeholder & Relationship Development/Management:

- Serve as the primary contact for OU/regional leaders and MCRS stakeholders, ensuring their needs are met and building strong, synergistic partnerships.

- Promote internal collaboration with MCRS teams to drive sustainable organizational growth.

- Lead and enhance engagement activities with OUs/regional partners, building robust relationships and deepening insights into trends, service gaps, industry priorities and market pressures.

- Collaborate across MCRS teams to break down silos and deliver customized solutions that address evolving stakeholder needs.

- Continuously adapt MCRS focus to reflect stakeholder values and emerging industry trends.

Business Development:

- Drive innovation by identifying new opportunities for clinical evidence generation.

- Facilitate strategic discussions with OU/regional partners and MCRS to anticipate future needs and challenges.

- Act as a reference point for service capabilities, pipeline commissioning, and new business opportunities.

- Assess and communicate the value of new or modified services through pilot programs; educate partners on current and future offerings.

- Generate new leads via networking and outreach.

- Leverage critical thinking to manage service offerings, track progress, and analyze customer needs to deliver impactful, tailored solutions that drive meaningful outcomes.

- Oversee the proposal and negotiation process for MCRS services, including potential outsourcing, ensuring clear alignment of expectations and deliverables.

- Develop and execute strategic plans in partnership with OUs/regional partners, leveraging data analysis, benchmarking, and market intelligence to meet business objectives.

- Support organizational agility through ongoing market intelligence and competitive analysis.

Financial & Performance Oversight at Portfolio Level:

- Oversee portfolio-level deliverables and timelines, ensuring alignment with objectives and budget.

- Provide regular updates on performance, quality, and financial status, offering insights into cost and performance drivers.

- Apply lessons learned to drive continuous improvement
