NOTE: THIS POSITION IS AVAILABLE FOR REMOTE WORK FOR INDIVIDUALS LIVING BEYOND A 30-MILE RADIUS OF A PHYSICAL NUSCALE OFFICE BUT WITHIN THE CONTIGUOUS UNITED STATES.

POSITION SUMMARY:The Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer 2 reports to the Manager, Thermal Hydraulics and works collaboratively with Nuclear Methods, Nuclear Design, and Code Development teams within the broader Nuclear Fuels department, as well as with other Engineering disciplines and Operations functions.

This position is an engineer with experience in nuclear thermal-hydraulic analyses, codes, and methods, as well as familiar with interfaces with core design and neutronics. This role will apply industrybest-practicesto perform system level thermal hydraulic analysis and subchannel analysis supporting development of the SMR product, reload safety analysis, and customer-specific application of codes and analysis methods. The role requires familiarity with PWR thermal hydraulic principles, design basis safety analysis, and interfaces with core design, fuel design, neutronics, and transient analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- ExecutesVIPRE subchannel evaluations including CHF predictions and thermal margin calculations in accordance with approved methods. Maintainssubchannel models and ensurescorrectness of inputs, correlations, and boundary conditions.

- ConductsRELAP analyses for LOCA,non-LOCAtransients, and otherdesign basisscenarios in accordance with approved methods. Document model setup, assumptions, and results in accordance with approved requirements.

- Contribute to assessments of system behavior and protective features in the context of safety analysis acceptance criteria. Identifiespotential design impacts on thermal hydraulic margins and communicatesfindings.

- Supportscross functionalthermal hydraulic reviews forreloadsafety analyses, plant design changes, operational concepts, and licensing deliverables. Evaluatesmargin sensitivities and interface impacts of design changes.

- Workscollaboratively within the Nuclear Fuels organization to ensure design and analysis interfaces are adequately managed. Communicatestechnical inputs clearly andensuresboundary conditions and assumptions are aligned.

- Contributesto technical development of licensing technical or topical reports, license applications, and other licensing documentation.

- Preparesand verifiesengineering reports, calculations, studies, system descriptions, requirement specifications, and other design documents with particular emphasis on subchannel and systemthermal-hydraulics.

- Developsresolutions to challenging problems that require the use of creativity and innovation.

- Performsother duties as assigned. Flexibly supportschanging organizational priorities, including urgent analysis needs, cross functional reviews, technical troubleshooting, or special studies.
