NorthStar Care is a next-generation, virtual treatment program for Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD), grounded in science, technology, and deep compassion. Our program combines genetically-informed medical care, nutrient restoration, virtual reality–based peer support, and long-term wraparound treatment. We meet patients where they are - with evidence-based tools, stigma-free language, and a care model designed to restore health, dignity, and hope.

We are a multidisciplinary team of physicians, peer guides, therapists, data scientists, designers, engineers, and professionals - all working toward one mission: to revolutionize addiction care and make recovery accessible, humane, and effective.

Role Overview

NorthStar is seeking a Production Designer to join our creative team on a temp-to-hire basis. This person will turn concepts into polished, on-brand assets quickly and accurately across clinical, marketing, and digital channels, and will play a leading role in how our team uses AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT in everyday creative production.

This role blends hands-on production design with advanced, practical AI fluency. You will not only use AI to work faster. You will help build the prompts, workflows, and standards that make AI reliable, on-brand, and compliant across our team.

This is an ideal role for a designer who is:
- Passionate about mission-driven work
- A daily, hands-on user of both Claude and ChatGPT who understands what each one does best
- Fast, precise, and organized in a high-volume production environment
- Excited to experiment with new tools and share what they learn
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, compassionate environment

Key Responsibilities

Production Design
- Produce high-quality, on-brand assets for social media, email, paid campaigns, web, presentations, print, and employer/payer-facing materials.
- Resize, adapt, and version creative across platforms, formats, and audiences quickly and accurately.
- Prepare final, production-ready files for print vendors, web, and digital partners.
- Maintain organized asset libraries, templates, file naming, and version control.
- Uphold NorthStar's brand pillars of compassion, clarity, and scientific integrity in every deliverable.

AI-Powered Creative Workflows
- Use Claude and ChatGPT daily to speed up production, including drafting copy variations, building creative briefs, exploring layout and concept options, checking work against brand standards, and solving technical problems.
- Write, test, and refine prompts that produce consistent, high-quality, on-brand results, using techniques such as clear context, audience framing, examples, constraints, and structured outputs.
- Know when to use Claude, when to use ChatGPT, and when a task needs a human, and help the team make those choices.
- Build and maintain reusable AI resources, such as Claude Projects and Skills, custom GPTs, prompt libraries, and templates.
- Use AI image and design tools (such as Adobe Firefly and ChatGPT image generation) responsibly, with human review of every output before it is used.

- Use AI to support code-based design work, such as HTML/CSS snippets, interactive prototypes, and WordPress layout fixes.
- Document workflows and share best practices so the whole team gets better at using AI.
- Stay current on new AI features, models, and tools, and recommend the ones worth adopting.

Responsible & Compliant AI Use
- Follow NorthStar's AI and privacy policies in every project, including never entering patient information or other protected health information into AI tools.
- Review all AI-assisted work for accuracy, brand fit, stigma-free language, and accessibility before it moves forward.
- Route clinical or medical content through clinical leadership review, and flag any claim or statistic that needs a source.
- Respect copyright and licensing rules for AI-generated and stock assets.

Clinical & Patient Education Materials
- Lay out clear, stigma-free, patient-centered materials such as patient guides, medication-education handouts, and educational resources.
- Turn complex scientific and medical information into accessible, easy-to-understand graphics, working from content approved by clinical leadership.
