Thank you for your interest in working with Project Genius, a division of Korakuen English Centre. Our aim is to be the premier English language consultancy firm for private secondary schools in Japan.

Our client school for this position is a co-educational Catholic junior and senior high school in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo. The school has recently revised its curriculum to emphasise cultivating an international outlook among its students, and they are now seeking multiple teachers to ensure the success of this programme.

Start Date: 1 April 2027

The school is seeking instructors in the following areas (mainly Junior high school level classes):
• Science – a certified instructor with classroom experience teaching STEM subjects
• Mathematics – a certified instructor with classroom experience teaching secondary-level mathematics
• Advanced English – a certified instructor with classroom experience teaching English as a subject (literature, poetry, short stories, etc.). There are intermediate English classes and it is required to teach EFL classes too.

Compensation Package
• Monthly pre-tax salary: ¥310,000–¥350,000
• Transportation expenses fully covered and reimbursed
• Renewable contract or direct hire opportunity depending on the first year performance

Weekly Schedule (Please note that it is subject to change in 2027)
• English (Language Arts) teachers: Monday to Friday
• Mathematics and STEM teachers: Tuesday to Saturday
• Working hours: 8:10 to 17:10. Please note, however, that when there is a teachers’ meeting, you will be required to stay longer and attend the meeting.

This position is a proper teaching post at a Japanese junior and senior high school. Successful teachers will be treated the same as Japanese teachers and become full members of the staff.

Therefore, it is not an ALT position. You will be expected to work in the same way as Japanese teachers, and to be present at the school even on days without lessons. On such days, you will be required to review and improve the curriculum in preparation for the following semester, and so on.

During school holidays (summer, winter, and spring break periods), there are times when the entire school is closed (for example, during the traditional Japanese Obon period). At such times, you will not be required to attend.

At all other times, however, you will be required to attend school even if there are no classes. If you wish to take holidays during the summer break, you will need to use your paid leave.
