Founded to transform retail finance, Ajaib Group is an Indonesian fintech unicorn breaking barriers to financial access. Having recently secured a $270M Series Cβ€”the single largest funding round in Southeast Asia over the past four yearsβ€”we are backed by premier global investors including Y Combinator, Ribbit Capital, SoftBank, and SBI Holdings.

To build world-class products, we assemble world-class talent. Supported by our fully hybrid work arrangement, our team spans Eastern Europe, the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia, allowing you to work with brilliant engineers and builders from around the globe from wherever you are.
Role Overview

As a Staff SRE at Ajaib, you set the reliability strategy and technical direction for the platforms that keep every Ajaib product available, fast and safe. You work across multiple engineering teams to define reliability targets, build the observability and incident practices that engineers rely on, and design infrastructure that survives failure, so that investors can trade, pay and move money whenever they need to. You stay hands-on for the most critical systems and incidents.
- Define and drive the reliability strategy and engineering direction across multiple teams and products.
- Set service level objectives (SLOs) and error budget policies with product engineering teams, and make them part of how decisions are made.
- Lead the design of the observability platform: metrics, logs, traces and alerting standards that all teams use.

- Lead incident response for the most serious incidents, and drive blameless post-mortems that lead to lasting improvements.
- Design resilient, scalable cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure as code, with clear patterns that teams can reuse.
- Lead disaster recovery and resilience work: failover design, backup and restore tests, game days and chaos experiments.
- Plan capacity for known peaks, such as market open and salary days, and lead load testing and cost optimization.
- Improve release engineering and change management so that teams ship quickly and safely, including progressive delivery and rollback.
- Reduce toil by building automation and self-service tools, and measure the result.
- Run production readiness reviews and set the reliability bar for new services.

- Partner with Security, Compliance and Infrastructure on access control, secrets, audit evidence and regulatory requirements for recovery and change control.
- Mentor Senior SREs and engineers across teams, and help grow reliability skills across the organization.
- Stay hands-on with implementation for critical components, automation and complex technical problems.

- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 8+ years of professional engineering in SRE, DevOps, infrastructure or platform roles, including a proven record of running large-scale production systems and leading reliability work across multiple teams.
- Reliability Engineering: Strong expertise in SLOs, error budgets, incident management, capacity planning, performance and resilience patterns.
- Observability: Deep experience designing monitoring, logging and tracing with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog and OpenTelemetry.
- Infrastructure: Deep experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS), including networking, IAM and high availability design.

- Automation & Languages: Strong programming skills in Go, Python or similar, and the ability to build tools and automation, not only operate systems.
- Data & Messaging Operations: Practical experience operating relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), Kafka and Redis for reliability and recovery.
- Mindset & Domain: Strong background in fintech or other high-scale, highly regulated environments; exceptional communication skills to influence engineering decisions without direct authority.
