About the Team

We are the WEX Mobility team, dedicated to building mission-critical services and modern API interfaces for WEX’s industry-leading fuel card platform. We design and develop APIs and scalable services that support both internal and external customers, creating the foundation for new products, capabilities, and opportunities across WEX.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable backend services and APIs supporting mission-critical business capabilities.

Build and enhance microservices and distributed systems using modern software engineering practices.

Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle and PostgreSQL, with a focus on performance, scalability, and data integrity.

Develop solutions using technologies such as Kafka, Elasticsearch, AWS, and containerized environments.

Contribute to cloud-native architecture and help evolve our platforms for scale, availability, security, and reliability.

Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code.

Participate in code reviews and collaborate with engineers, product partners, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

Troubleshoot complex technical issues and contribute to sustainable, long-term solutions.

Apply DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.

Demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies and adapt across different technology stacks as business and technical needs evolve.

Experience You’ll Bring

-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

-
3+ years of professional software development experience, preferably building backend or distributed applications.

-
Strong programming experience in Java and/or Python, with a solid understanding of object-oriented design and software engineering fundamentals.

-
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, problem-solving, and API design.

-
Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-based applications.

-
Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies, including writing and optimizing SQL.

-
Exposure to NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch, or other distributed data technologies.

-
Experience with or understanding of event-driven architectures and Kafka.

-
Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform, along with exposure to infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices.

Understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, and modern software development practices.

-
Ability to work effectively in an agile, collaborative environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn new technologies.
