Shopify Head
Purpose
The Platform & Web Lead owns the technical architecture, development, performance and continuous optimisation of Valerie's digital platforms across multiple brands. While Shopify remains the primary platform, this role is also responsible for managing web technologies, CMS platforms, website infrastructure, integrations, analytics implementation and overall digital experience.
This role ensures all customer-facing digital platforms are scalable, secure, high-performing and aligned with business, marketing and product objectives.
Beyond technical expertise, this role requires strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, influence decisions, mentor engineers and proactively recommend improvements across Valerie's digital ecosystem.
Accountabilities
Platform & Website Ownership

Own the technical architecture and ongoing optimisation of all ecommerce and web platforms across Valerie brands.

Lead Shopify development while supporting other web platforms, CMS solutions and landing page technologies.

Manage website infrastructure, hosting, domains, CDN and deployment processes.

Ensure platform scalability, reliability and security.

Maintain platform documentation, development standards and governance.
Shopify Development & Engineering

Own the technical architecture, development, and ongoing optimization of Shopify stores across multiple ecommerce brands.

Build scalable frontend and backend solutions using Shopify, Liquid, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, and modern development frameworks.

Develop and maintain integrations with third-party platforms, APIs, payment gateways, and business systems.

Ensure clean, scalable, secure, and well-documented code through engineering best practices.
Website Performance & Technical SEO

Own technical SEO, website performance, and Core Web Vitals across all ecommerce platforms.

Lead technical audits, migrations, and platform improvements that enhance search visibility, speed, and user experience.

Partner with Growth and Content teams to implement SEO-first technical solutions that support organic growth.

Monitor website health, uptime and platform reliability.

Implement structured data, accessibility (WCAG) and technical best practices.

Ensure websites meet modern security, performance, and compliance standards.
Platform Integrations & Automation

Develop and maintain integrations between Shopify, CRM, ERP, payment gateways, and third-party applications.

Support API integrations and middleware solutions.

Improve platform automation and operational efficiency.

Ensure data flows reliably across all connected business systems.
Platform Optimization & Analytics

Own website analytics implementation including GA4, GTM and ecommerce tracking.

Ensure accurate data collection across all customer journeys.

Improve website conversion through CRO and experimentation.

Optimise page performance, UX and customer experience.

Build scalable tracking frameworks across all digital properties.

Work closely with Growth, SEO, and Product teams to implement data-driven improvements.
Technical Leadership & Communication

Act as the technical lead for Platform, Web and Ecommerce Engineering, providing clear technical direction and recommendations.

Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Mentor developers, establish engineering standards, and lead code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical problem-solving.
