Job Description:
SENIOR PRINCIPAL SCRUM MASTER
GDIT is seeking a SENIOR PRINCIPAL SCRUM MASTER to lead and facilitate the Agile Release Train (ART), driving effective planning, execution, coordination, and continuous improvement across multiple Agile teams. The RTE will coordinate program delivery, manage cross-team dependencies and risks, and ensure alignment between business and technology teams.
The role will support the implementation of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) for Large Solutions, promoting a lean, iterative approach to product development. The RTE will ensure that SAFe practices meet program needs for compliance, governance, and end-to-end traceability. On the program, the RTE will facilitate delivery and traceability across the lifecycle from Requirement → Epic → Feature → Story → Release.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate Agile Release Train events, including PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt.
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies, risks, and impediments to ensure predictable program delivery.
- Track ART progress using Agile metrics and provide transparent status reporting to stakeholders.
- Partner with Product Management, Solution Architects, and Engineering teams to align priorities and execution.
- Drive continuous improvement by coaching teams on SAFe Agile practices and optimizing delivery processes.
- Ensure reporting teams stay synchronized with application development, including database table and schema changes, to maintain reporting accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in Agile program execution, with at least 2 years as a Release Train Engineer, Agile Coach, or Agile Program or Project Manager.
- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification.
- Hands-on experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile methodologies.
- Strong experience managing cross-functional teams, dependencies, and program risks.
- Proficiency with Agile lifecycle management tools such as Jira, DevOps, or Rally.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in government, federal, or compliance-heavy environments.
- Familiarity with Lean Portfolio Management (LPM), DevSecOps, and Agile Release Trains in highly regulated industries.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all organizational levels.
- Experience coaching at the program, portfolio, and enterprise levels to drive Agile transformations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, enterprise purchasing and requisition systems such as SC360, SAP Ariba, Coupa, or Oracle iProcurement.

The likely salary range for this position is $148,750 - $201,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
