General Description:
The Senior Director, North America Compliance will serve as the lead Compliance business partner for the U.S. Commercial organization, with particular focus on Market Access. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, Americas, this role will provide strategic, practical, and risk-based compliance guidance that enables business objectives while supporting an effective North America Compliance Program.
The Senior Director will partner closely with senior leaders and teams across Market Access, Sales, Marketing, Patient Services, Trade and Distribution, Legal, and other functions. The role will advise on complex U.S. healthcare compliance matters across payer and customer engagement, pricing and contracting activities, patient support and access programs, field execution, promotional activities, and other evolving commercial models.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, business-minded healthcare compliance leader who understands the U.S. pharmaceutical commercial and market access environment, can anticipate risk, and is comfortable making sound decisions in areas where the path may not be straightforward. This individual will be expected to build trusted relationships, influence at senior levels, and translate legal and regulatory requirements into clear, pragmatic guardrails that support responsible innovation and sustainable growth.
Essential Functions of the Job:
U.S. Commercial & Market Access Compliance Leadership:
- Serve as the lead Compliance business partner for the U.S. Commercial organization, with primary responsibility for supporting Market Access and related access, reimbursement, and customer-facing activities.
- Provide strategic, timely, and practical compliance advice to senior Commercial and Market Access leaders on business strategies, product launches, customer engagement models, and new or evolving initiatives.
- Advise on compliance considerations involving payers, pharmacy benefit managers, group purchasing organizations, health systems, specialty pharmacies, distributors, wholesalers, integrated delivery networks, government accounts, and other market access stakeholders.
- Provide compliance guidance on pricing and contracting activities, discounts and rebates, formulary and access discussions, value-based or innovative arrangements, patient support and affordability programs, reimbursement activities, and other market access initiatives in partnership with Legal and relevant subject-matter experts.
- Support U.S. Sales and Marketing teams on key commercial compliance matters, including promotional practices, healthcare professional and customer interactions, speaker programs, advisory boards, sponsorships, field activities, and other external engagements.
- Develop a deep understanding of business objectives and operating models in order to identify risk early, propose pragmatic solutions, and embed appropriate controls into business processes.
Strategic Risk Management & Compliance Program Execution:
- Partner with the Head of Compliance, Americas to execute North America compliance strategy and priorities and to continuously enhance a modern, risk-based compliance program.
- Identify and assess emerging compliance risks arising from changes in the U.S. healthcare, enforcement, reimbursement, and commercial landscape and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Lead or support compliance risk assessments, monitoring, auditing, investigations, and remediation activities relating to U.S. Commercial and Market Access activities.
