Senior Database Administrator What you will be doing:
As a Senior DBA, you will take on a leadership role within the database team. In addition to managing and optimizing databases, you will mentor team members, oversee database projects, and make technical recommendations to improve performance and scalability. You will also have a more strategic role in planning and executing database initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead database management efforts, ensuring best practices for both on-premises and cloud-based systems.

Design and implement disaster recovery, failover, and backup strategies, ensuring minimal downtime and data availability.

Perform advanced database performance tuning, including resource optimization and identifying long-term improvements.

Lead and mentor DBAs, offering guidance on technical issues and helping to develop their skills.

Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and vulnerability management in both traditional and cloud environments.

Develop and maintain SQL procedures, views, and scripts to support production and reporting systems.

Collaborate with system administrators and other teams to perform capacity planning and manage database scalability.

Provide leadership in troubleshooting complex database issues and drive incident resolution.

Participate in cross-team strategic planning and product development meetings, offering technical expertise on database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility #1– 30%
Database Administration
• Utilize knowledge of database design to work closely with architects in database creation and on-going maintenance tasks
• Utilize knowledge of database features and upcoming releases to drive database technology decisions and mentor other DBAs
• Write and troubleshoot advanced SQL and PL/SQL
• Expert knowledge navigating UNIX/LINUX systems as well as shell scripting
• Able to identify and write the requirements for any scripting projects needed
• Able to troubleshoot very complex issues using both experience and a proven series of steps
• Assist all members of the DBA team with troubleshooting issues
• Able to identify issues ahead of time through monitoring and research to prevent escalations or member impact
• Proven ability to script complex DBA tasks to allow for scalability and support
• Provide direction on areas / products to investigate; weigh pros / cons to recommend the go-forward path
• Actively seeks technical debt to reduce; add debt reduction to team's workload
• Digest the vulnerabilities report, and schedule necessary upgrades and patches to mitigate
• Able to accurately estimate current work, and work that is on the backlog or roadmap that has little-to-no design details

Methodology / Standards
• Retain audit compliance while supporting development teams. Design and develop standards and the solutions to support them.
• Implement best practice techniques for performance and mitigate risk. Work with development teams to meet this goal.
• Understand basic Change Management principals, able to create standard changes when applicable prevents unauthorized changes. Work with team on possible standard changes for DB maintenance tasks.
• Understand concepts of capital investment, product life and depreciation. Align this to technical decisions they suggest for projects.
• Business acumen as related to the product(s) responsible
• Know the value Premier provides its customers at a corporate level and how the products are used in a business context.
• Understand concept of product lifecycle management and an understanding of where products are in their lifecycle
• Aware of issues affecting product's health. Work and advocate for these issues to be addressed.
