Job Role: Senior Accountant
Compensation range: $2,500 AUD - $3,500 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

The team works across a range of client structures and industries, providing practical financial support while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Role Overview: We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with strong Australian public practice experience to support a portfolio of clients across accounting, taxation, compliance, and financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in Australian public practice and be confident handling end-to-end accounting and compliance work, including accounts preparation, tax, BAS, and Division 7A matters.
Beyond technical accounting capability, this role is suited to someone who naturally looks for ways to work smarter. You’ll be expected to identify repetitive or inefficient processes and use tools such as Xero, Excel, AI, and automation to improve your own workflows and increase efficiency.
You should be comfortable working with multi-entity and group structures, managing competing priorities across multiple clients, and operating independently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting and compliance requirements across a portfolio of Australian clients
- Prepare and review financial statements, management accounts, and other financial reports
- Prepare and manage Australian tax compliance requirements, including individual, company, trust, and related entity tax matters
- Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS) and ensure relevant compliance obligations are met
- Assist with Division 7A matters and related compliance requirements
- Perform reconciliations, journals, month-end processes, and general ledger reviews
- Work confidently across multi-entity and group structures, ensuring transactions and reporting are accurately managed between related entities
- Manage client accounting workflows from data processing through to completion and review
- Use Xero and Excel extensively to manage accounting data, reporting, reconciliations, and client work
- Identify repetitive or inefficient accounting processes and develop practical ways to automate or streamline them
- Use AI tools and other technology to improve workflow efficiency, research, documentation, analysis, and routine accounting tasks
- Maintain accurate and well-organised working papers and supporting documentation
- Identify discrepancies, compliance issues, and potential risks and take appropriate action
