SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES

The SAM Commercial Portfolio Manager supports the Special Assets commercial loan portfolio of one or more SAM Commercial Resolutions Officers (CRO) and Team Leads (TL) providing quality underwriting and sound portfolio management that reduces problem assets and minimizes losses to the bank.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Analyzes financial information to evaluate the credit worthiness of renewals, modifications, and forbearance loan requests and on-going Portfolio Management activities through thorough and accurate analyses within the parameters of the Bank’s policies and procedures.

Compiles commercial loan packages ensuring completeness and accuracy of information provided. The commercial loan package includes, but is not limited to, a written credit memo with sufficient background information on the Customer, financial analysis of the Borrower, Guarantors and the proposed transaction, critical analysis of the potential risk to the Bank, proper risk grading and discussion and a thoughtful recommendation.

Completes, when needed, additional credit analysis through more in-depth tools outside of the traditional spreads and global cash flow (example CRE analysis tool).

Guides the loan request through the Credit Approval Process and ensures that structure meets the needs of the client and the operating objectives of the Bank.

Assures that commercial loan relationships are in compliance with State and Federal regulations and Bank policies and procedures.

Monitors and services the commercial loan portfolios of the supported CRO and TL through quality portfolio management work related to centralized covenant testing and tracking, the annual servicing review process, criticized loan asset report preparation, and exception clearing.

Reviews commercial portfolio for opportunities for potential upgrades.

Properly grades risk of each loan in the assigned portfolio, per policy. Recommends adjustments to risk grades as circumstances change or new information becomes available.

Assists CRO and TL in credit presentation to Credit Administration or other leaders and Committees at the Bank.

Ensure that all required documentation is in file for all loans. Works with the CRO, TL and the SAM Loan Assistant to help clear documentation or compliance deficiencies noted by Loan Operations or other reviews.

Periodically engage with customers at the direction of the CRO or TL for the collection of financial information.

Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal business partners (Loan Operations, Credit Administrators, Loan Operations Area, Credit Leadership, Local Line Leadership and Branch Personnel etc.).

Undertakes special projects related to job function as determined by the Director of Special Assets or SAM Commercial Resolutions TL.

Continuously updates skills by participating in professional training and seeks opportunities to improve skills through cross-training offered by the Bank.

Works with CRO and TL to monitor maturing loans.
