Position Overview
Digital Health, a Shared Health service, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex healthcare information technology initiatives that support the transformation and modernization of healthcare delivery across Manitoba.
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering large-scale digital health and clinical information system projects in collaboration with clinical leaders, healthcare professionals, technical teams, vendors, and senior management. The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing healthcare IT implementations, organizational change, clinical system deployments, system integration, testing, and provincial-scale initiatives.
This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare environments and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while ensuring that technology solutions are implemented safely, effectively, and in alignment with clinical and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of complex healthcare information technology projects.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Provide regular project status reporting to senior clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams consisting of clinical, technical, operational, vendor, and project resources.
- Coordinate the implementation, upgrade, and optimization of healthcare information systems within acute care environments.
- Lead or coordinate implementations involving the Altera Sunrise suite of products .
- Engage clinical stakeholders to define, validate, and standardize clinical and operational requirements.
- Ensure healthcare technology solutions are implemented safely and effectively within clinical environments.
- Coordinate system integration activities, including the testing and validation of healthcare information systems using Health Level 7 (HL7) standards.
- Develop and execute testing strategies, plans, schedules, and defect-resolution processes.
- Coordinate implementation readiness activities, including training, communications, workflow preparation, stakeholder engagement, and organizational change management.
- Lead organizational change activities using established change management methodologies, including Prosci ADKAR .
- Manage risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and change requests throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate large, multi-stream project teams and ensure effective communication across all project workstreams.
- Work closely with vendors and internal technology teams to ensure project deliverables meet business, clinical, technical, and operational requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of standardized clinical services and processes across healthcare organizations.
- Ensure project activities comply with applicable healthcare privacy, security, governance, and information-management requirements.
- Facilitate project meetings, steering committees, working groups, workshops, and stakeholder sessions.
- Ensure project documentation, decisions, action items, and deliverables are maintained to a high standard.
- Provide leadership during implementation, transition, stabilization, and post-implementation activities.
Required Qualifications and Certifications
The successful candidate must possess:
- Valid PMP certification or PRINCE2 Foundation/Practitioner certification.
- Valid Prosci (ADKAR) Organizational Change Management certification.
- Post-secondary education in project management, information technology, computer science, health informatics, business administration, healthcare administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
