Working with experienced engineers and technical specialists, you will support renewable energy integration, conventional generation modeling, protection systems analysis, and microgrid studies. You will also translate simulation results into actionable technical recommendations, reports, and presentations for clients. This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to strengthen your engineering expertise while contributing to a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable energy infrastructure.
Accountabilities:
- Conduct power systems analysis: Perform steady-state, dynamic, and transient studies of electrical transmission networks to evaluate system performance, identify potential issues, and support safe and reliable grid operations.
- Develop and validate electrical models: Build, maintain, and validate mathematical models of conventional and renewable generation facilities, voltage support devices, and other critical power system components.
- Execute large-scale simulations: Apply advanced power system simulation tools to investigate network behavior, assess operating conditions, and develop practical solutions for utilities, independent system operators, power producers, and transmission providers.
- Support grid planning and operations: Apply power systems planning principles to assess network reliability, transmission performance, stability, and operational constraints under different scenarios.
- Contribute to renewable energy integration: Analyze the behavior and impact of renewable generation and other evolving energy technologies to support reliable grid integration and long-term system planning.
- Perform specialized engineering studies: Contribute to relay protection modeling, electromagnetic transient analysis, microgrid studies, voltage stability assessments, and other power engineering assignments as required.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations: Document study methodologies, simulation results, engineering findings, and recommendations in clear, accurate reports and presentations for review by senior technical staff and project managers.
- Manage project deliverables: Execute assigned technical activities within agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards, providing regular progress updates and communicating potential risks or delays.
- Support client consulting and training: Contribute to on-site technical consulting, knowledge transfer, and training activities to help clients understand study results and apply recommended solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams: Work closely with colleagues, senior consultants, and project stakeholders to resolve technical challenges, validate assumptions, and deliver high-quality consulting services.
- Develop technical expertise: Participate in mentoring, training, and continuous learning opportunities to strengthen analytical capabilities and expand knowledge of power system technologies and industry practices.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power and Energy Systems. An advanced degree may be considered in place of some professional experience.
- Professional experience: At least one year of relevant professional experience, including engineering internships, in power systems engineering, analysis, planning, or operations.
- Power systems fundamentals: Knowledge of electrical transmission systems and experience analyzing power flow, transient stability, and/or electromagnetic transients.
- Simulation and modeling: Practical experience using advanced power system analysis tools to model electrical networks, evaluate system behavior, and interpret simulation results.
- Technical software skills: Familiarity with one or more of the following tools is advantageous: PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, TARA, PSCAD, and Python.
- Engineering analysis: Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and develop evidence-based recommendations.
- Modeling and validation: Understanding of mathematical modeling and model validation principles for generation facilities, grid components, and electrical network reliability assessments.
- Technical communication: Ability to prepare clear technical reports and presentations, explain engineering findings, and communicate effectively with technical colleagues and clients.
- Project execution: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, maintain quality standards, and provide timely progress updates.
- Teamwork and adaptability: Willingness to collaborate across technical teams, learn from experienced professionals, accept feedback, and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Professional development mindset: Motivation to expand technical knowledge, develop consulting capabilities, and stay informed about emerging power system technologies and grid modernization practices.
- Travel availability: Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10% for client engagements, technical consulting, or training activities.
- Work arrangement: Ability to work remotely from within the contiguous United States.
Benefits:
- Competitive annual salary: Advertised base salary range of $68,830โ$117,994 , depending on experience, technical knowledge, skills, qualifications, budget, and geographic location.
- Annual incentive opportunity: Target incentive compensation of 10% of base salary , subject to applicable program terms and eligibility.
- Health and wellness benefits: Access to a range of employee healthcare and wellness programs. Specific coverage and eligibility details are available through the employer's benefits resources.
- Remote work flexibility: A full-time, permanent remote position for candidates based in the contiguous United States.
- Technical learning and development: Opportunities to strengthen power systems engineering skills through training, mentoring, and collaboration with experienced technical professionals.
- Career growth: The opportunity to expand expertise in power grid simulation, renewable energy integration, transmission planning, and advanced engineering consulting.
- Meaningful technical impact: Contribute to improving electrical grid reliability, supporting energy transition initiatives, and addressing complex power engineering challenges.
- Collaborative environment: Work alongside multidisciplinary engineering and consulting teams on projects serving utilities, power producers, and transmission organizations.
