Outbound Referral Scheduler - Part-Time 4x5 Schedule - Weekdays/Weekends
Hours: 20 hours per week; Saturday and Sunday, and 2 weekdays are required. 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST is the required shift during the week. Weekend hours must be worked between 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST. Flexibility on weekday schedule and weekend shift hours.
Location: Fully Remote.
Training Requirements: 2 weeks of full-time day shift training Monday through Friday are required during the hours 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST.
Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on activities related to revenue cycle operations such as billing, collections, and payment processing. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Patient Access duties: Performs the administrative and financial-clearance duties necessary to facilitate the procurement of clinical services by patients. Collects patient's necessary demographic and financial information from physician offices, acute-care entities, or the patients themselves, schedules services for patients, and handles referrals from primary care doctors to ensure patients are scheduled for recommended appointments/procedures, etc. An organizational related support or service (administrative or clerical) role or a role that focuses on support of daily business activities (e.g., technical, clinical, non-clinical) operating in a “hands on” environment. The majority of time is spent in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. An entry level role that typically requires little to no prior knowledge or experience, work is routine or follows standard procedures, work is closely supervised and communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation.
Job Overview
The position is responsible for enabling clinical referral partners ( Tufts Medicine Medical Group, Tufts Medicine Integrated Network, and non-affiliated clinicians) to access Tufts Medicine primary and specialty care expertise. Predominantly using Epic based tools, clinical referral specialists will facilitate seamless patient access that reflects Tufts Medicine ’s commitment to compassionate, high-quality care.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. One year (1) customer Service and/or Patient Experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.Experience with Epic
2. One (1) years’ experience in a medical office or healthcare access center

1. In support of the organization’s referral retention and growth goals, complete appointment request processes as received through Epic, telephone, or faxed based requests for care by a clinician
2. Demonstrates Tufts Medicine service standards through professionalism and empathy with patients and colleagues
3. Demonstrates excellent productivity through reaching workload volume goals as measured by completed work queue events and expected time to complete ratios
4. Ensures compliance with data entry protocols and decision trees
5. Verifies patient insurance coverage for specialist visits and diagnostic tests
6. Informs patients about their referral appointment, including date, time, location, and any special instructions
7. Meets all required competencies for department

Physical Requirements:
1. Professional office environment with typical office requirements such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
2. This is largely a sedentary role, which involves sitting most of the time, but may involve movements such as walking, standing, reaching, ascending / descending stairs, and operate office equipment.
3. Frequently required to speak, hear, communicate, and exchange information.
