About the Role:
We have opportunities in Reading and Math. You will be able to become an expert tutor in either or both. You choose!
As a Reading Tutor at Braintrust Tutors , you will work with K-12 students in a school setting to strengthen their reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking skills. Using our structured intervention programs and materials, you will deliver consistent, high-impact tutoring that meets each student where they are.
As a Math Tutor at Braintrust Tutors , you will work with K-12 students to strengthen their mathematical reasoning, number sense, and problem-solving strategies. You will provide engaging, consistent lessons using Braintrust Tutors curriculum and materials, helping students build foundational math skills and confidence.
Opportunity Details:
- Online & remote, anywhere in the U.S. or a specific location due to fingerprinting
- Applications are considered on a rolling basis
- Candidates MUST have proof of a valid or expired teaching license issued by a U.S. State Board
Employment Type: This is a part-time contractor 1099 role
Our typical schedule and availability requirements vary by engagement, but here are some general guidelines.
- 12-14 weeks
- Opportunities in the Fall (mid-Sept to Dec) and Spring (Jan to Jun) semesters
- School-day hours
Tutor Schedule:
- 3/4 days per week - 30/45 minute sessions
Pay Rate: $45/hour for group sessions 1:4 - $32/hour for individual sessions 1:1
To be considered, interested applicants must be available for the entire 12-14 weeks

What You Will Do:
- Provide small-group or 1:1 reading/math tutoring to students developing literacy skills
- Implement Braintrust Tutors intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance
- Collaborate with the Braintrust Tutors Operations team and school staff to support student growth
- Foster a supportive and engaging virtual classroom environment that promotes focus and confidence
- Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence
- Use the provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction
- Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities
What You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- Active or expired teaching license from a U.S. State Board.

The 30-day substitute certification is not accepted as a state board license .
- (READING) Experience with reading instruction that includes morphology-based word study, vocabulary development, reading comprehension strategies, and writing skills covering grammar, syntax, and multi-paragraph composition using a structured scope and sequence.
- (MATH) Knowledge of math instruction that builds number sense, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills, with a scope and sequence ranging from counting to multi-digit arithm
