Position Summary:
We are seeking a Manager, Revenue Accounting to join our Global Accounting team as we continue to innovate and evolve. SPS is a continually growing organization with strong history of acquisitions and recent growth into a unique and new revenue stream. This newly created role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition under ASC 606, supporting the monthly close process, and contribute to global cross-functional initiatives to ensure accurate accounting processes are implemented.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely recognition of revenue in compliance with ASC606 and company policy across global legal entities which includes:
- Partnering with Financial Reporting on Technical Accounting matters and the related accounting activities including new contracts or partnerships.
- Drive the execution of revenue accounting treatments within ERP/sub-ledger systems across various revenue types.
- Partner with FP&A to develop and monitor robust revenue analytics to identify discrepancies and support business decisions.
- Own the month-end and quarter-end global close process for revenue-related accounts, including the review of journal entries, accounting reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Maintain and implement strong internal controls and adherence to SOX within revenue accounting.
- Support the preparation of disclosures and audit documentation
- Oversight of the full revenue recognition process by partnering with the organization to ensure processes support accurate revenue recognition with little manual intervention.
- Assist with implementation of ERP system to ensure proper design of revenue recognition.
- Partner across the global organization to resolve revenue recognition application issues.
- Assist with merger and acquisition projects including involvement in diligence and supporting deal decisions. Support post-acquisition implementation of revenue in compliance with ASC 606.
- Lead and support various projects, including process improvement and systems initiatives.
- Mentor a small team to achieve revenue accounting initiatives and priorities.
- Partner with various internal stakeholders, such as FP&A, SOX, Financial Reporting, and Controllership-teams (primarily, our accounting teams within global offices).
- Support, lead and/or execute projects related to Finance and Corporate Strategic Initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years with SaaS companies
- Strong experience in revenue accounting related to ASC 606
- Highly collaborative communication style and practice
- Deep knowledge U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), specifically ASC 606, financial controls, and other authoritative guidance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent organizational skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail
Preferred Experience
- Public company experience preferred
- CPA preferred
