Field Engineer - Industrial Piping & Mechanical Construction
This is a 100% traveling position. When not at a project, you may work from your home office on project management type activities.
What You'll Do
TEiC Services is seeking motivated Field Engineers to support the execution of industrial construction projects across the United States. This is a full-time travel position, working on complex power generation, heavy industrial, manufacturing, process piping, mechanical, and plant construction projects. When not assigned to an active project, Field Engineers may work remotely from their home office supporting project planning, work package development, scheduling, procurement coordination, and other project execution activities.
This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in the field and want hands-on involvement in the installation of process piping systems, mechanical equipment, structural steel, and industrial facilities. Successful candidates will work closely with superintendents, craft professionals, project engineers, planners, and project controls teams to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
As a Field Engineer, you will serve as the critical link between engineering, planning, and construction operations, helping ensure crews have the information, materials, drawings, and work packages needed to execute construction successfully. This position is heavily involved in piping installation, mechanical construction, construction sequencing, field problem resolution, quantity tracking, and project execution support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily field engineering support for industrial construction, piping, mechanical, and equipment installation activities.
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed construction work packages to support field execution readiness.
- Support the installation of process piping, pipe supports, valves, pumps, pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers, and other industrial equipment.
- Coordinate weekly work plans and assist with look-ahead schedules to support construction sequencing and crew productivity.
- Review drawings, specifications, isometrics, and construction documents to ensure crews have current information.
- Manage RFIs, field design clarifications, and technical issues that impact construction progress.
- Perform field walkdowns to verify piping systems, equipment installation, structural steel erection, and overall construction progress.
- Track installed quantities, labor productivity, earned value metrics, and project performance indicators.
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment availability, subcontractor activities, and field logistics.
- Support quality inspections, turnover documentation, and commissioning readiness activities.
- Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, and implementation of safe work practices.
- Partner with project controls, engineering, procurement, and field supervision teams to remove constraints and drive project execution.
