Purpose of the Position

The Career Services Team Lead is a high-performing Career Services Advisor or Business Development Advisor who serves as a visible example of operational excellence. While maintaining personal production responsibilities, the Team Lead reinforces best practices, supports peer learning and development, assists with onboarding and training, and helps reinforce consistent operational standards across the team.

The Career Services Team Lead partners with Career Services Managers by sharing knowledge, modeling effective behaviors, identifying operational improvement opportunities, and supporting the successful execution of departmental priorities and initiatives. This role extends the team's ability to learn, adapt, and execute at a high level while supporting the direction and priorities established by Career Services leadership.
What you’ll do:

Production Excellence & Student Success: Maintain exceptional personal production while delivering high-quality career coaching, graduate engagement, employer outreach, and placement support. Consistently model behaviors that contribute to positive graduate outcomes and departmental success.

Peer Coaching & Knowledge Sharing : Serve as a subject matter expert by mentoring peers, answering process questions, sharing best practices, and supporting onboarding and continuous learning initiatives that build team capability and confidence. Support Peer Learning and Development: Serve as a resource for peers by answering process questions, sharing best practices, and reinforcing operational standards. Assist with onboarding and mentoring new advisors.

Operational Excellence & Quality Standards: Promote consistency in documentation, CRM utilization, workflow execution, and departmental procedures. Reinforce quality expectations and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.

Performance Support & Continuous Improvement: Support Career Services leadership by reinforcing operational initiatives, encouraging adoption of new tools and processes, monitoring workflow effectiveness, and providing observations that contribute to continuous improvement and stronger business results.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership Support: Partner with managers and cross-functional teams to support departmental initiatives, training activities, operational projects, and team communications. Serve as a trusted operational resource while appropriately escalating personnel or performance concerns.

Compliance, Team Engagement & Professional Leadership: Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and student-focused culture by demonstrating professionalism, supporting compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements, encouraging team engagement, and contributing to a positive work environment that reflects UMA's values.
