#1000 - Senior ILE COBOL / IBM i (AS400) Developer

Job brief - Only available for LATAM professionals.

We are looking for a developer with solid experience in ILE COBOL on IBM i (AS400 /iSeries) to join an strategic project to transform and migrate a core banking system.
The position involves working on the current core system: developing new features, building the integration interfaces needed during the transition period between platforms, and documenting existing programs and business rules.
Responsibilities

- Design, code, and test new features in ILE COBOL and CL (Control Language).

- Develop communication interfaces to integrate with legacy systems via IBM MQ.

- Create and maintain up-to-date technical documentation for programs, data flows, and business rules.

- Analyze existing programs to identify and document business rules embedded in legacy code.

- Perform unit tests and support the integrated testing and acceptance testing cycles.

- Diagnose and fix defects in programs in production and in the project environments.

- Work closely with business analysts and the target platform teams to ensure consistency between the current system and the new core system.

- Autonomy to make progress on legacy code with partial or non-existent documentation.

- Rigorous technical documentation: this is a core responsibility of the role, not a secondary task.

- Effective communication with business analysts and distributed teams.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field

- Verifiable experience as an ILE COBOL developer on IBM i (AS400 / iSeries).

- Proficiency in CL (Control Language) .

- Experience developing integration interfaces using MQ messaging .

- Ability to read, interpret, and document legacy code with undocumented business rules.

Nice to have

- Knowledge of the IBM i DCM (Digital Certificate Manager) administration tool.

- Previous experience with core banking migration or coexistence projects.

- Experience in the financial/banking industry.
