YouTube, Podcast & Video Manager

The role

Grow our audience and email list through the podcast, YouTube and video. You are measured on results and expected to back every recommendation with data.

How success is measured

• Primary: new email contacts from the podcast and YouTube, tracked per episode

• Supporting: subscribers and followers, ratings and reviews, downloads and views per episode, YouTube watch percentage, retention and click-through rate, AI and search visibility

Responsibilities

Analytics and reporting

• Update the Podcast & YouTube scorecard weekly, with week-over-week, month-over-month and year-over-year comparisons

• Write a weekly insights report: what changed, why, and what to do next

• Analyze retention, click-through rate, watch percentage and drop-off, especially in the first 45 seconds

• Track performance by topic, episode length, guest vs. solo, and multi-part series

• Flag fast-rising videos so we can promote them and make more on the topic

• Report which videos and episodes drive website traffic

Optimization

• Review each episode at 24 hours, 72 hours and 7 days

• Test thumbnails, titles, descriptions and tags one change at a time, and log results

• Run structured tests, such as publish time, and recommend standards

YouTube

• Write titles for search and AI discovery

• Pair titles and thumbnails to drive click-through rate

• Upload accurate captions and chapters

• Build short solo educational videos and Shorts

• Keep channel branding consistent and professional

Podcast

• Track weekly downloads, followers and chart rankings (e.g., Apple Mental Health category)

• Analyze Apple average consumption and Spotify retention to set episode length

• D ---------- format per episode: single vs. multi-part, solo vs. guest, using performance data

• Write a separate title for each platform: Apple and Spotify titles built for self-recognition, not copied from YouTube

• Publish through Simplecast with transcript, chapters and show notes link; upload video to Spotify and Apple

• Grow ratings and reviews on Apple and Spotify

• Hold audio quality: clean master, cold-open hook, no wasted time

Production and publishing

• Run the weekly pipeline in Asana, with an episode live every Tuesday

• Edit and export episodes in Riverside: lip sync, Magic Audio, background blur, video enhancement, balanced levels, 1080p or 4K export

• Pull and proof the Riverside transcript for captions, show notes and Simplecast

• Direct audio and video editing to our standards

• Watch and listen to every episode in full before it publishes

• Publish to the website, YouTube, Simplecast, Spotify video and Apple video, then check every live page and link

• Pull 2 to 3 clips per episode for short-form

List growth and attribution

• Choose the lead magnet for each episode

• Use the correct UTM tracking link on every platform

• Report podcast-attributed contacts

Show notes and AI search

• Produce long-form episode pages optimized for AI search

• Verify every quote, claim and citation

Back catalogue

• Maintain the episode inventory

• Identify episodes to repurpose, re-optimize or group into topic pages

Requirements

• 2+ years growing a YouTube channel or podcast, with measurable results

• Hands-on experience with YouTube Studio, Apple Podcasts Connect, Spotify for Creators and a podcast host such as Simplecast

• Understanding of podcast growth: charts, consumption, reviews and multi-platform distribution

• Advanced spreadsheet skills

• Turns data into clear recommendations

• YouTube packaging skills: titles, thumbnails and hooks

• Understanding of UTM tracking and attribution

• Understanding of how AI search finds and cites content

• Hands-on audio and video editing in Riverside (required) and Canva

• High attention to detail

• Clear, plain writing

• Skilled use of AI tools

Preferred: GA4 and Search Console; health, psychology or science content experience; Wix, Kajabi, Asana and Slack
