Tour Guide & Operations Specialist
\[POSITION SUMMARY]
We are seeking a versatile and adaptable Day Tour Guide & Operations Specialist to join our team in a popular ski resort area. In this role, you will lead day tours for international tourists, manage tour bookings, participate in marketing activities (such as distributing promotional materials), and support sales at our onsite café space.
Because we operate in a ski resort area, booking volumes fluctuate significantly depending on the weather, with a high volume of same-day reservations. Therefore, strong flexibility and the ability to handle last-minute requests are essential.
\[REWARD OF THIS POSITION]
The greatest joy of working with us is deepening your own knowledge of Japanese culture and sharing it with guests from all over the world. Hearing their heartfelt appreciation and knowing you helped create an unforgettable chapter in their holiday is deeply fulfilling.
Guiding can be physically demanding and repetitive—there will be days when you lead tours through harsh snowstorms. However, for those who maintain a sense of gratitude and find genuine joy in helping others regardless of the conditions, this work offers an immensely rewarding experience.
What You Will Gain Through Experience:
- Cultural Connection & Gratitude: Direct appreciation from international guests by serving as a bridge to Japanese culture
- Real-world Japanese Practice: Opportunities to naturally elevate your Japanese to business-level fluency through daily operations
- Impact & Responsibility: The sense of accomplishment that comes with taking real ownership of projects in a dynamic team
- Global Exposure: Meaningful interactions with diverse visitors from every corner of the globe
- Countryside & Mountain Lifestyle: Full access to a vibrant country/resort lifestyle in Nozawa Onsen during your time off
\[WORKING CONDITIONS]
- Office Location: Nozawa Onsen in Nagano Prefecture
- Employment Period: Late November / Early December 2026 ~ Mid March 2027
(Contract extension may be available based on performance and skill set)
- Customer Review Bonus: ¥2,000 bonus for every 5-star tour review received from customers.
- Days Off: A minimum of 1 day off per week
- Female Dormitory Available: Private room provided at ¥30,000 per month.
- Male Applicants: Please note that male dormitory accommodations are not available. Male staff must arrange their own housing. As local housing in Nozawa Onsen is extremely limited, we strongly recommend searching in neighbouring areas such as Iiyama City.
\[PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS]
- Current Residency: Currently residing in Japan
Driving Skills: Valid driver's license in Japan with experience driving on snow-covered/icy roads (Higher compensation for candidates licensed to drive vehicles seating 11+ passengers)
- Language Skills: High-level Japanese proficiency (Business level or higher, JLPT N2/N1 preferred)
- Work Style & Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to systematically complete routine/detailed tasks with high quality
- IT & Automation Skills: Hands-on experience integrating cloud tools (WooCommerce, Zoho, Google Workspace) via Webhooks, APIs, or automation platforms (Make/Zapier).
- Market Familiarity: Strong understanding of English-speaking markets and western culture (e.g., Australia, UK, NZ, USA, Canada, SG, HK)
This role requires you to be in Japan. If that means relocating or flying in, it is worth checking fares before you commit to a start date.
