About Plume:

Plume Health is a passion-fueled, mission-driven company that is trans-founded with a vision to transform healthcare for every trans life. We hope to make gender-affirming hormone therapy easily accessible at the touch of a button in every state of the US.

This work is deeply personal and heart-driven, and we want teammates who care about the mission and the people we serve. For the right candidates, we present a rare opportunity to do well by doing good. Plume offers an affirming, trans-centered, culturally inclusive, and fun work environment filled with purpose.

About the Role:
As a Support Group Facilitator at Plume, you will facilitate groups of Plume members, cultivating spaces for trans, nonbinary, and non-cis people to share their questions, experiences, and wisdom with one another on various topics, identities, interests, and more. This critical role helps empower members with the support they need in navigating their own gender journeys, while achieving improved health and wellness outcomes.

We are currently hiring facilitators for the transfemme and nonbinary groups, though all are welcome to apply.

Essential strengths of a Plume Support Group Facilitator include building trusting relationships and communicating with empathy, professionalism, and inclusivity. The right person for the role will arrive to groups prepared, maintain appropriate boundaries, manage time and group dynamics, navigate sensitive or divisive topics with care, and recognize when concerns must be escalated or referred beyond the scope of peer support. They balance organic peer conversation with purposeful structure by developing intentional sessions with clear objectives, meaningful activities or reflection, and defined participant takeaways. Successful facilitators also demonstrate a deep commitment to supporting their peers and enthusiasm for working in a growing and evolving start-up environment.

This is an Independently Contracted role, with time split between facilitation, preparation, follow-up, and at times, training and consultation. Groups are hosted virtually and are held at the same cadence, day, and time. This contracted role is overseen by the Community Programs & Engagement Manager.

Responsiblities:
- Facilitate peers in live virtual group settings to support them with barriers related to their experience with identity

- Take an empathetic, proactive approach to meeting members' emotional needs as they arise

- Use Plume’s monthly themes and templates to create agendas, discussion questions, and activities for support groups, drawing on your expertise and lived experience

- Provide feedback on support group session structure, facilitator training materials, and other materials to improve Plume’s Support Group offering

- Answer questions about Plume services and provide support to members in accessing those services

- Engage with support group participants in the Prism to encourage further community connection and engagement outside of group meetings

- Utilize conflict resolution skills to address group dynamics and ensure that all members follow group agreements

- Occasionally provide facilitation coverage for other Facilitators

- Optional participation in social gatherings, special events, or temporary Prism moderation coverage

Must Have:
- 2+ years' experience as a facilitator or peer support specialist

- 2+ years of experience and a passion for supporting trans/nonbinary individuals, whether through professional work, community involvement, or volunteer roles.

- 1+ years' experience facilitating virtual or online support groups, workshops, or learning experiences

- Comfort and experience facilitating workshops and educational content on issues related to equity, anti-discrimination, inclusion, anti-racism, trans/nonbinary issues, consent, and social justice

- Experience discussing many of the sensitive issues that face the trans/nonbinary community, including: coming out, mental health, gender identity formation & expression, sexuality, relationships, family issues, isolation and loneliness, substance use, HIV and AIDS, and health and safety concerns in a group setting

Nice-to-have:
- Professional experience in mental health, behavioral health, counseling, licensed social work credentials, peer support, or a related field, or equivalent education or certification such as Licensed Therapist, Social Worker, Peer Support Specialist, Mental Health Advocate, Care Coordinator, Crisis Hotline or Textline Responder, Behavioral Health Aide, Community Health Worker, or Youth Worker

- Demonstrated ability to facilitate or support discussions tailored to at least two of the following communities: transfeminine, transmasculine, nonbinary, BIPOC, neurodivergent, parenting, disabled, legislative advocacy, or community engagement

- Familiarity with working in a fast-paced startup or evolving organizational setting

- Experience using productivity software, specifically Zoom, Slack, and Google Sheets

Compensation:
- Peer Support Facilitators will be paid $105 USD per completed group

- There may be additional opportunities to facilitate or host community events, paid at $75 USD per event. All opportunities for such events will be discussed with Peer Support Group Facilitators by the Community Programs & Engagement Manager.
