Staff Product Designer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Designer based in United States.

As a Staff Product Designer, you will shape high-impact product experiences across the full development lifecycle, from early ideas through launch. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and leadership to turn complex challenges into simple, intuitive experiences for readers and writers. The role combines strategic product thinking with hands-on design execution, giving you ownership over what gets built, how it is shaped, and how it reaches users. You’ll contribute to a scalable design system while maintaining a high bar for visual quality, interaction, accessibility, and usability. You’ll also explore emerging AI-assisted design workflows to rapidly develop and validate new ideas. As a senior member of the design function, you’ll elevate the work of teammates through collaboration, feedback, and thoughtful design leadership.

Accountabilities:
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and leadership to translate product strategy and complex challenges into clearly defined, high-impact initiatives.

- Lead design work from ideation through launch, creating high-quality experiences, interactions, prototypes, and visual designs that translate product vision into intuitive user experiences.

- Shape product direction by identifying opportunities, pitching ideas, defining scope, and helping determine how initiatives should be executed.

- Conduct user research to uncover pain points, needs, and opportunities, using insights to guide product and design decisions.

- Leverage AI-assisted design tools and workflows to explore, prototype, validate, and communicate new ideas, features, and interactions.

- Contribute to the design system and help establish a cohesive, scalable visual and interaction language across the product.

- Collaborate with engineers to ensure design intent, usability, visual quality, and implementation details are maintained throughout development.

- Represent the design function by upholding a high design bar and advocating for thoughtful, intentional decisions across the product development process.

- Share feedback openly, collaborate constructively with other designers, and contribute to an environment where the broader team’s impact is continuously elevated.

Requirements:

- 7+ years of product design experience in fast-paced environments, working closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and other cross-functional partners.

- An outstanding portfolio with strong, presentable case studies demonstrating shipped product work and expertise in typography, interaction design, visual design, and ideation.

- Proven ability to simplify complex challenges into intuitive, elegant, and effective product experiences.

- Strong product thinking with the ability to move between detailed design execution and high-level strategic thinking while maintaining speed and quality.

- Deep understanding of design systems, including their evolution, underlying principles, and opportunities for future development.

- Strong ability to collaborate with engineers and product partners while developing a clear rationale for design and product decisions.

- Excellent written, verbal, and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate ideas and design decisions clearly.

- Strong learning and growth mindset, with the flexibility to adapt to evolving processes, team structures, and product priorities.

- Empathy for users and teammates, combined with the resilience to receive, consider, and incorporate constructive feedback.

- Experience using AI design tools and workflows is valuable, particularly for rapid exploration and validation of concepts.
