Staff Data Scientist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Data Scientist based in Canada.

This is a high-impact data science role within a fast-moving, high-growth environment where insights directly influence business decisions.
You will work across Growth, Strategy, Revenue, Marketing, and Product, partnering closely with senior leadership and experienced data teams.
The role combines advanced analytics, forecasting, causal inference, experimentation, machine learning, and data application development.
You will own initiatives end to end, from framing ambiguous business questions through modeling, implementation, and executive recommendations.
Your work will help improve customer experiences, optimize business processes, and accelerate growth through data-driven decision-making.
You will also contribute to shared data foundations, semantic models, and reusable frameworks that enable other practitioners to work more effectively.
The position offers significant autonomy, technical ownership, and opportunities to make a measurable impact across the organization.

Accountabilities:
- Architect optimization analyses and forecasting models to identify opportunities across Growth, Strategy, Revenue, Marketing, and Product teams.

- Partner directly with senior and executive leadership, translating complex analytical findings into clear recommendations, decisions, and process improvements.

- Design counterfactual analyses and A/B tests to support data-driven improvements to user experiences, product features, and customer journeys.

- Build data applications that automate and enhance sales and marketing processes.

- Own projects end to end, from defining the business question and selecting the analytical approach through model development, delivery, and presentation of recommendations.

- Work with shared semantic layers and dbt models that power the broader analytics environment, ensuring analyses are built on reliable, consistent data.

- Contribute to data science frameworks, templates, documentation, and guides that can be reused by data practitioners across the organization.

- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and pressure-test analytical approaches.

- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to both technical teams and executive audiences.

Requirements:

- 7+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field within a fast-moving business environment.

- Demonstrated ability to independently lead ambiguous, complex, and high-impact analytical problems from definition through execution.

- Hands-on experience with modern cloud data stacks, including Snowflake, dbt, and BI platforms such as Sigma, Looker, Metabase, Omni, or similar tools.

- Strong SQL and statistical modeling capabilities, including practical experience developing forecasting and causal inference models.

- Experience designing and analyzing experiments, including A/B testing and counterfactual approaches.

- Strong understanding of scalable data modeling and experience contributing to shared semantic layers or centralized data foundations.

- Excellent documentation and version-control practices, including experience working with Git.

- Ability to balance rapid, exploratory analysis and prototyping with the development of scalable, reliable data products.

- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate work across multiple stakeholder groups with minimal oversight.

- Self-driven approach, with the ability to identify opportunities, build a business case, and drive initiatives through completion.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence working with executive leadership as well as technical and analytical teams.
