Sr Solutions Engineer
Introducing Domaine Europe. Born from the strategic union of the Netherlands-based Code and the global powerhouse Domaine , we are now the world’s largest independent Shopify design and development Platinum Partner.
Located in Delft, our European hub continues to champion the same innovation and dedication that Code was known for, now backed by a global team of commerce experts. We don’t just follow industry trends; we create them. Together, we are writing the next chapter of commerce for a new generation of brands.
Summary of Role
We're looking for a Senior Solutions Engineer to own the technical side of how we win work across EMEA.
This is a pre-sales role, end to end . You'll live in the space between first client conversation and signed statement of work: running discovery, architecting the solution, pressure-testing feasibility, building the prototype that makes the idea real, and writing the documentation that sets Delivery up to succeed. You will not carry billable project work or post-sale implementation, your output is a well-architected Shopify implementation solution.
We want someone who can do both halves of the job. You should be able to read an unfamiliar API spec and know within the hour whether the integration is a week or a month. You should also be able to sit across from a VP of Engineering, disagree with them, and have them thank you for it.
Location
This is a remote role only open to candidates across select European markets, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, and Denmark.
What You'll Do
Discovery and requirements
- Run structured pre-sales working sessions with client stakeholders, from C-suite to the engineers who'll live with what we build.
- Find the real problem behind the stated requirement. Map workflows, systems, constraints, and success metrics rather than taking a feature list at face value.
- Surface risk early. Identify the integration that won't work, the data model that won't scale, and the assumptions nobody has considered.
- Document detailed technical requirements from your pre-sales and discovery findings, ensuring crucial client context is preserved and clear for execution teams and stakeholders.
Solution architecture
- Architect solutions across Shopify and the systems around it, balancing what the platform does natively against extensibility, apps, and custom work.
- Design integrations against our favorite three-letter-acronym systems: ERP, OMS, PIM, WMS, CRM. Producing the system diagrams that make the architecture legible to everyone in the room, not just senior technical stakeholders.
- Evaluate third-party tools properly: read the API documentation, test it hands-on, and talk to the partner. We recommend on evidence, not just marketing pages.
- Make the honest call on build versus buy versus don't, including when the answer is that we shouldn't take the project as scoped.
Demo engineering
- Build working prototypes and proofs of concept during the sales cycle to validate feasibility and let clients see the idea rather than imagine it.
- Write real code to do it: Liquid, JavaScript, GraphQL against the Shopify APIs, whatever the question demands.
- Use prototypes to de-risk the estimate, not just to impress. A POC that surfaces a problem has done its job more than a 100% polished demo site.
Sales partnership
- Partner with Sales to win well-scoped work that meets the prospect and Domaine 's assumptions. You own technical credibility in the room and the integrity of the estimate.
- Present technical detail persuasively to mixed audiences without talking down or hiding behind jargon.
- Support proposals, SOWs, and estimates as the technical author, and know where the line that cannot be crossed on scope is when commercial pressure pushes against it.
Craft and ecosystem
- Maintain working relationships with our integration and technology partners across the globe, and particu
