Required Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent work experience (eight years). In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of 5 years of private/corporate accounting work experience; or 2-3 years where work experience includes at least one year in public accounting. Education/experience must include complex bank reconciliations, general ledger, financial statements, and/or government reports. Strong technology skills are critical, particularly expertise with Microsoft Excel. Preferred Experience: Previous nonprofit experience preferred. Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A for any employer. Estimated hiring range: $40.58 - $49.40
THE JOB
World Vision is seeking an On-Call Senior Accountant to provide specialized accounting support during the fiscal year-end reporting cycle. This temporary assignment will assist the Accounting & Reporting team with complex intercompany accounting transactions, reconciliations, and analysis during a period of elevated workload. The ideal candidate is a collaborative accounting professional who can quickly integrate with the team and demonstrate servant leadership to help ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and completion of close activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, chapel, prayer, worship, devotions, and leadership of devotions); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
- Establish and maintain accounting records with appropriate supporting material; prepare and correct entries for general ledger reporting. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly accruals. Ascertain whether company assets are properly accounted for and safeguarded from loss.
- Reconcile more complex or difficult accounts that require in-depth analysis and research, including bank statements and inter-company general ledger accounts. Periodic review of internal controls
- Prepare and provide appropriate accounting information and reports.
- Produce and analyze financial statements, reviewing for completeness and alignment with contracts, guidelines and/or policies and make adjustments.
- Coordinate problem resolution and provide technical guidance/training to other finance staff and customers as necessary.
- Research and recommend new systems and procedures to handle new areas where no procedures exist, and handle special accounting programs.
- Develop a role appropriate understanding of the international World Vision partnership and use this context to inform communications, actions, decisions and solutions.
- Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as a member of a team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
