Shopify QA Specialist
You must be able to work from Uzbekistan β the posting restricts this role to applicants there.
We're hiring a mid-senior Shopify QA specialist on a remote monthly retainer to test Shopify storefronts and apps for client work at Bolder Apps. You'll partner with Shopify developers and PMs, catch theme and checkout bugs before merchants see them, and leave clear bug reports the next person can act on. We want someone who has QA'd Shopify projects inside an agency or multi-client setting, not only one personal store. If you can break a messy theme safely, verify checkout flows, and keep quality high under launch pressure, we want to talk.
About Us
Bolder Apps is a product development studio that partners with US-based startups and established companies to build and scale innovative digital products. We specialize in AI-powered development, full-cycle product creation, and engineering team augmentation. Our mission is simple: build bolder, faster, and smarter.
Our Culture & Values (read before applying)
We move fast. We take ownership. We work with AI, not against it. And we expect everyone to bring ideas, not wait for instructions.
There are no daily checklists, no micromanagement, and no corporate politics. Instead, you'll have autonomy, trust, and a team that's always ready to help you grow. At Bolder Apps, impact matters more than titles, and curiosity matters more than seniority.
If you want a place where you can level up fast and actually see your work making a difference - welcome aboard.
Responsibilities
- Own QA for Shopify theme and storefront work from staging through launch, across more than one engagement when the pipeline needs it
- Design and run test passes for Liquid themes, sections, carts, checkout, discounts, and merchant content edge cases
- Test Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, and custom app flows when the store needs more than theme edits
- Write clear bug reports with steps, expected vs actual, browser/device, and severity so developers can fix fast
- Partner with PMs and developers on launch checklists, regression scope, and go/no-go calls
- Use AI tools to draft test cases and bug notes, then verify the output yourself before it hits the team
- Flag risk early when a theme fork is unstable, a checkout change is unsafe, or UAT content will break production
- Leave clean QA notes and known-issue lists so another engineer or QA can pick up without archaeology
Requirements
- Shipped Shopify QA. 3+ years testing production Shopify themes and/or apps that went live for real merchants. Project list shows real launches, not only demos.
- Agency or multi-client experience preferred. You have worked on more than one store or client at a time under launch deadlines.
- Shopify surface literacy. Comfortable testing Online Store 2.0 themes, carts, checkout, discounts, metafields, and common app installs. Checkout Extensibility and/or Shopify Functions experience is a plus.
- Quality craft. Clear reproduction steps, severity judgment, regression discipline, and calm communication when a launch is on fire.
- Tooling. Comfortable with browsers, mobile devices, staging stores, and ticket tools (Jira, Linear, or similar). Automation (Playwright, Cypress, or similar) is a plus, not a hard gate.
- AI-augmented workflow. You use ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar to accelerate test design and bug writing, and you catch when the output misses a Shopify-specific failure.
- English at C1 or above. Bug reports and written updates go out in your voice.
- US hours overlap. Available through roughly 5 PM EST for live launch coordination when needed.
- Ownership habits. Honest severity calls, early blockers, finished launch passes. No disappearing acts.
Benefits
- Fully remote and async-friendly, with required overlap through ~5 PM EST for launch windows
- Monthly retainer structure with recurring Shopify client work for QA who keep stores calm at go-live
- Real autonomy over how you structure test passes and reports. We do not hand you a rigid playbook
- Direct line to developers, PMs, and deci
