Senior Synon & Cobol400 Developer
- Design, develop, modify, and enhance applications using SYNON/COOL 2E, COBOL400, CL/400, CLLE, and DB2/400.
- Develop and support RxCLAIM / pharmacy claims adjudication functionality and related business processes.
- Analyze and enhance complex claim processing logic, including business rules and system workflows.
- Develop and maintain integrations with downstream healthcare and PBM systems.
- Perform major enhancements and modifications to existing healthcare applications.
- Maintain, modernize, and improve existing AS/400 applications while developing new solutions.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production and application issues.
- Investigate system defects, identify root causes, and implement effective technical solutions.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and application changes.
- Document system flows, application functionality, interfaces, and business logic.
- Perform impact analysis for application changes and ensure changes do not negatively affect downstream processes.
- Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and support system/user acceptance testing as required.
- Collaborate with business analysts, technical teams, QA teams, and healthcare/PBM stakeholders.
- Deliver high-quality, reliable code with minimal supervision.
- Take ownership of assigned development activities and meet project milestones and deadlines.
- Provide technical guidance and assume leadership responsibilities when needed.
Required:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with:
- SYNON / COOL 2E
- COBOL400
- CL/400 and CLLE
- DB2/400
- Strong hands-on experience with RxCLAIM.
- Ability and willingness to take on technical leadership responsibilities when required.
- Experience working with pharmacy claims adjudication and claims processing systems.
- Strong knowledge of Healthcare / Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) processes and applications.
- Experience analyzing and modifying complex claims processing logic and business rules.
- Experience supporting integrations between RxCLAIM/AS400 applications and downstream healthcare systems.
- Strong production support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to understand complex legacy applications and make enhancements with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
Desired:
- Experience supporting large-scale healthcare or PBM platforms.
- Experience performing major enhancements to existing AS/400 healthcare applications.
- Strong understanding of legacy application architecture and modernization considerations.
