Senior Product Manager, Payments

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Manager, Payments based in United States.

This is an opportunity to lead a defined area within a high-scale payments product environment, where reliability, trust, and execution are critical. You will own product direction and delivery while working closely with engineering, design, support, partnerships, and product leadership. The role combines strategic product thinking with hands-on execution, from refining issues and triaging incidents to shaping user flows and creating product briefs. You will help improve experiences across onboarding, checkout, refunds, disputes, payouts, reporting, and overall reliability. Working with major payments partners, you will manage integrations, dependencies, and complex operational challenges. Your decisions will directly influence merchant revenue, shopper conversion, customer trust, and the quality of the overall commerce experience.

Accountabilities:
- Own product direction and execution for a key payments product area, establishing clear priorities, goals, and measurable outcomes.

- Improve merchant and shopper experiences across onboarding, checkout, refunds, disputes, payouts, reporting, and payment reliability.

- Identify and reduce payment failures, friction, and operational issues while helping lower support volume and strengthen merchant trust.

- Use product data, support signals, merchant feedback, and other insights to prioritize initiatives, define success metrics, and make clear tradeoffs.

- Work closely with engineering and design teams to shape solutions, evaluate technical constraints, refine product flows, and drive execution.

- Collaborate with strategic payments partners, including major payment platforms, to improve integrations, manage dependencies, deliver changes, and resolve issues.

- Take a hands-on approach to product management through issue definition, bug and incident triage, flow reviews, lightweight prototyping, briefs, and PRDs.

- Monitor product performance and use dashboards, instrumentation, and analytical insights to identify opportunities and measure impact.

- Communicate progress, risks, decisions, and priorities clearly to stakeholders in a distributed and asynchronous working environment.

- Maintain strong alignment across cross-functional teams while ensuring product decisions remain focused on customer needs and measurable outcomes.

Requirements:

- 7+ years of experience in product management, including senior individual contributor experience owning complex product areas.

- 4+ years of experience in payments or fintech, ideally working on products operating at significant scale.

- Experience leading complex initiatives or large-scale/global product launches is a plus.

- Strong product judgment and the ability to make practical decisions in ambiguous or fast-moving situations without requiring perfect information.

- Experience working on high-trust, business-critical systems where reliability, security, and small product changes can have significant impact.

- Ability to collaborate deeply with engineers and designers on complex product challenges, including technical constraints and tradeoffs.

- Strong analytical skills and practical experience working with metrics, dashboards, instrumentation, and product data.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly within distributed and asynchronous teams.

- Strong organizational and execution skills, with the ability to manage priorities and maintain momentum across multiple stakeholders.

- Familiarity with WooCommerce, WordPress, or open-source ecosystems is an advantage.

Benefits:

- Salary range of $170,000–$240,000 USD annually.

- Salary range applies globally regardless of location, with compensation paid in local currency.
