Senior Product Counsel, Real Estate Products

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Counsel, Real Estate Products based in the United States.

This fully remote legal leadership role sits at the intersection of regulated real estate activity, brokerage operations, and technology products.
You will serve as a trusted legal advisor on licensed real estate activities while providing end-to-end counsel for assigned consumer and B2B products.
The role covers a broad range of matters, including regulatory compliance, product design, data licensing, commercial agreements, and industry affairs.
You will work closely with product, business, privacy, compliance, marketing, finance, communications, and other cross-functional teams.
The position offers the opportunity to advise on emerging issues, pilot programs, complex regulatory questions, and initiatives where legal frameworks may still be developing.

Accountabilities

Serve as the primary legal point of contact for brokerage operations and as a subject matter expert on licensed real estate activities, particularly where they intersect with technology products.

Provide full-lifecycle product counsel for designated consumer and B2B products across regulatory compliance, product development, data licensing, marketing, and commercial matters.

Advise business partners on legal issues arising from new products, evolving product scopes, pilot programs, and strategic initiatives.

Analyze legal and regulatory risks and provide practical recommendations to senior management and other business stakeholders.

Support industry affairs activities, including MLS-related escalations, emerging industry issues, and strategic initiatives involving the broader real estate ecosystem.

Partner proactively with privacy, fair housing, finance, compliance, communications, marketing, and other shared-service teams to identify and resolve novel legal issues.

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including agreements involving data licensing and other technology-related arrangements.

Handle real estate licensing complaints, regulatory matters, and investigations as needed.

Provide subject matter expertise and ad-hoc legal support to Government Relations, Litigation, Communications, and other internal teams.

Build strong working relationships with business and product partners and embed legal guidance into business planning and product development processes.

Monitor developments in real estate regulation, MLS policies, and the broader legal and industry environment to identify potential risks and opportunities.

Develop creative, commercially practical solutions to complex and evolving legal questions while supporting consumer-focused product initiatives.

Requirements

7+ years of relevant legal experience at a national or regional law firm or within an in-house legal department.

Substantial experience in real estate regulatory matters and product counseling; in-house experience with a real estate brokerage or proptech organization is strongly preferred.

Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active admission to at least one state bar.

Strong knowledge of real estate regulatory frameworks, MLS policies, and the broader regulatory and industry environment affecting real estate professionals, brokerages, and real estate portals.

Experience advising on data licensing, marketing matters, commercial agreements, and technology-related products.
